Anyone seen this 1973 effort from Luigi Zampa who also made the excellent THE MASTERS with Franco Nero?Cast looks great including Enrico Maria Salerno,Gabriele Ferzetti and Claudio Nicastro,it also appears to have got a nomination at Cannes for the Palm D'or award back in the year it was made.How does it compare to Zampa's amazing THE MASTERS?

It's not bad, i was expecting more considering Salerno was in it, but still worth a watch.

I've got a Danish tape of this one at 98m17s, and an Italian tape which runs for 98m32s (on the PAC label).

Watched this earlier and was very impressed but it' a million miles away from the mafia dealing more with dodgy surgeons and underhand dealings in the Italian medical profession,well made with an interesting story and top cast.

Has anyone seen the Italian language version of this,wondering if it differs in anyway from the English edition?

I have a nice looking TV rip of the italian language version; can´t point any differences though as I've never seen the English edition.    The running time in my copy is 1:38:08. Hope that helps!

Nearly exactly the same as the Greek tape then which runs 1:38:10,does the Italian version have the opening and closing credits text explaining about the medical schools and the professors/barons?

Yes, a text is shown, but only in the closing credits - and in french!!

I'll have to get a copy of that Italian print sometime,had a feeling the opening text explaining the background to the story was only in the English version.
