I've just this minute updated the Severin website ::)
Severin -> News (http://www.severin-films.com/news.html)
Black Emanuelle's Box 2 (4-Disc Limited Edition) (http://www.severin-films.com/perl/search.pl?CO=SEV1123)
You're first to know!
-
Very nice! How limited will the Emanuelle Box be? Would it be advisable to pre-order to avoid missing out?
-
It's limited to just 4,000, so get those pre-orders in now!
-
There's a rumour they'll be releasing Alfonso Brescia's BEAST IN SPACE(La bestia nello spazio) next year, can anyone confirm this?
EDIT
Just checked their website and it's there ???
-
Yes, I did a sneaky advance post over at Latarnia a few days ago about BEAST IN SPACE.

This is great news, wonder it we'll get to see the h/c edit i've read so much about. It stars Italian porn queen Marina Lotar who was famous for her love of animals :-*,still have my old Italian tape on Shenedene/Nocturno back in London

I've got a japanese tape of MIAMI COPS ::)
-
I've had it on DVDR for years but never watched it. It's a good 'un then?
I think the version I have is sourced from the Japanese LD.
-
LD? Was there ever a Japanese LD of MIAMI COPS? Perhaps you mean the Japanese tape? That is the one me and Tanzi have.
-
You fellas know loads more about this stuff than me. It's been years since I got it but I think I remember been told it was sourced from LD. Here's some grabs and you can see if it's the same as the tape:

Tell me this doesn't make you want to pick up: Black Emanuelle's Box Volume 2 (http://mondo-esoterica.net/boxsets/Black%20Emanuelle%20Box%202.html). It is crying out for your Christmas Money. Another great set from Severin, and two rather enjoyable and sexy films (and a third that is interesting, if rather less effective).
-
I got mine a while back, but have only watched 'Emanuelle and the white slave trade' which I really enjoyed. the bonus soundtrack CD is great, too. I've been getting pretty much all of the Severin releases as they come out and have been impressed with all of them.
-
I designed the CD inlay cards for both sets ;)
There are going to be some great new titles coming from Severin in 2008.
-
Any more Jess Franco? Severin are the new Blue Underground, it seems. I need to grab all the older Severin titles I've missed.
-
Well Blue Underground and Severin are two different companies. Blue Underground are still relasing some very nice titles. I just received from them:
EUGENIE
You'll all be very pleased to hear that EUGENIE (on screen title EUGENIA) features both the original French track (with optional English subtitles) plus the English dub.
Run time = 90m 41s (as opposed to the Wild East version which was a PAL conversion with a run time of 86m 50s). Ratio is anamorphic 1.66:1 and has been transferred from the negatives - it's never looked this good. It really does look incredible.
Extras:
- Franco de Sade - interview with Writer/Director Jess Franco (20 mins)
- Theatrical Trailer (Murder! But more than murder. Incest! But more than incest...)
An essential must buy!
CECILIA
Just had a quick look at CECILIA. Again this features the original French track with optional English subtitles, as well as an English dub. Ratio is anamorphic 1.66:1. On-screen title is CECILIA, with a Eurocine copyright date of 1982. Direction is credited to Claude Plaut. Run time is 104m 50s - that's a whole lot longer than Aberraciones sexuales de una mujer casada (84m 06s) and my old French VHS of La Proie du Désir (92m 48s)
Extras:
- Sexual Abberations of Cecilia (interview with Director Jess Franco, 17 mins)
- Theatrical Trailer (Cecilia is a woman in love with life. Sensual... provocative. Too provocative perhaps...)
Franco opens his interview with a chuckle and "Cecilia doesn't exist. The title of the film is not CECILIA....
So.. how does CECILIA compares to Aberraciones sexuales de una mujer casada?
-
EUGENIE
An essential must buy!
I saw Tim Lucas' write up about this DVD the other day and ordered it straight away.
-
I posted news about these two discs last week over at Latarnia:
Latarnia: Eugenie + Cecilia (http://p210.ezboard.com/fthelatarniaforumsfrm6.showMessage?topicID=764.topic)
And I said that I really must get Mondo Erotico back up and running!
-
to me EUGENIE (DE SADE as it used to be known as...) is one of the very best Franco-films, brilliant on all levels and with Paul Müller in one of his best performances ever. Highly recommended for those who haven´t seen it! It is a bit in style with SINNER, hope that one will get a dvd release as well sometime, so that more people get to see it and hopefully the notion of Jess Franco as only a cheap trash-director with a love for the zoomlens finally could be put out of date. (Sure he is that as well, and that´s why i love him!)
CECILIA isn´t as mandatory viewing, but quite fun. I have an old english language copy, taken from god-knows what source, can check the runtime sometime, but to be honest i like it when Franco keeps it short.....
And Marc, nice to see the old Franco-enthiusiasm back up! An updated Mondo Erotico would be a most welcome New Years gift, it´s been an invaluble source for years!!
-
I'd also like to see Mondo Erotico running again in some manner, even if it's just a space for Marc to post whatever thoughts he likes on current cool titles. Both those new Franco titles are essential purchases for me, especially EUGENIE. If Blue Underground or Severin can dig up just a few more quality Franco titles in 2008 with docos from old Jess, I'll be quite happy.
-
And I said that I really must get Mondo Erotico back up and running!
Yeah, you really must. Your site was extremely useful when it came to finding out info about releases that would otherwise pass under our radars, so it would be great to have it back. ;)
-
I have just this minute added a news item to the Severin website ::)
28 December 2007 - End of year news update (http://www.severin-films.com/news.html)
-
Really cool news about the interview with Enzo Milioni :'(
-
Thanks Marc. I'll certainly get my credit card out for The Sister of Ursula as soon as it's available to pre-order. Looking forward to further announcements as well. "The outrageous, the titillating, the gory, the gialli, and for the lucky few of that particular persuasion, more Franco" certainly sounds promising. Especially the promise of more gialli ::)
I'm not the biggest Franco fan, but dvds of his films are usually worth picking up for the interviews alone.
-

Yes, I am really looking forward to that as well! ::)
-
The Sister Of Ursula is now up on amazon.com for pre-order:

-
Marc I would like to see Severin do a widescreen transfer of Argentos Sleepless. That would be excellent.
-
I wouldn't have thought that would be the type of film they're interested in to be honest.
-
Could someone tell me what the general plotline is in Beast in Space? Is it soft core porn?
-

Think of Borowczyk's LA BETE/THE BEAST, but set in space. It's as simple as that, really. There are several different edits of the film, of varying degrees of {ahem} 'hardness'.
It's quite a good film. At least, I like it. I'm definitely looking forward to Severin's DVD release.
I'm also looking forward to LA SORELLA DI URSULA, as I've only seen that film via an nth generation videocassette copy.

I agree on all counts.
This is one of the Franco films that I show to 'initiates' into the Franco canon. It's a genuinely beautiful film, with a very strong narrative. Oracle's DVD was fine, a worthy upgrade from the Wild East DVD (which I've kept due to the bonus materials), but I'm very much looking forward to watching this new release from BU.

Beast In Space, The: Unrated Version
“MIND-BOGGLING!”
MISE-EN-SCÈNE CRYPT
The Complete Unrated Director’s Cut For The First Time Ever In America!
In 1975, European sex symbol Sirpa Lane shocked the world with her performance as a maiden defiled by a ferociously aroused animal in the erotic classic THE BEAST. Five years later, the beautiful-but-doomed actress would plummet from arthouse to grindhouse in this insanely unofficial outer space ‘sequel’ packed with rampant sex, cheezy effects, barnyard passions and yet another graphic ravaging by a hugely-endowed man-beast. Marina Hedman (SATAN’S BABY DOLL) and Venantino Venantini (BLACK EMANUELLE) co-star in this jaw-dropping intergalactic epic that combines the immortal ‘80s Italian genres of sleazy sci-fi and depraved sexual saga, now fully restored from the original film lab negative purchased at a Rome bankruptcy auction.
-
They're also releasing the rare h/c edit of this as well.
-
Same day they are also releasing Emanuelle Around the World, Sister Emanuella and Emanuelle in Bangkok as stand-alone discs.
-
Fantastic,i'll be buying alot of titles on this label over the coming year.

Forthcoming releases from Severin Films May 20:
Before MAD MAX There Was STONE
It triggered Australia’s exploitation explosion, sparked a worldwide censorship battle, and remains one of the most infamous biker movies in genre history. STONE is the full-throttle saga of an undercover cop (Ken Shorter) who infiltrates the outlaw Grave Diggers (led by producer/director/co-writer Sandy Harbutt) on a one-way trip to hell with vengeance in their hearts, violence on their minds, and 150 horsepower of screaming steel between their legs. Helen Morse (PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK), Bill Hunter (THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT), members of the Sydney Hells Angels, and Hugh Keays-Byrne, Roger Ward, Vincent Gil and Reg Evans of MAD MAX fame co-star in the ultimate down-under cult classic, now fully restored from original vault elements.
“Whatever THE DIRTY DOZEN did,” screamed the ads, “they do it dirtier!” INGLORIOUS BASTARDS is more than just the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino’s long-rumored next movie; this 1978 international smash remains perhaps the biggest and most badass war movie in EuroCult history! Exploitation legends Fred ‘The Hammer’ Williamson and Bo (WALKING TALL, KILL BILL) Svenson star as the leaders of a gang of condemned criminals who escape from an Allied prison camp with a plan to blast their way to the Swiss border, only to find themselves ‘volunteering’ for a suicide mission deep inside Nazi occupied France. Academy Award® nominee Ian Bannen (FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX, BRAVEHEART) co-stars in this explosive action epic from director Enzo Castellari (STREET LAW, THE BIG RACKET), now fully restored from original vault elements for the first time ever in America!

Three Disc Collector’s Edition Includes Exclusive New Bonus Features And Never-Before-Released Soundtrack CD.
-
That three disc INGLORIOUS BASTARDS is the way to go!
-
Never understood what's the big deal with INGLORIOUS BASTARDS... It will be the only Euro-cult film along with SUSPIRIA and THE BEAST that gets the 3-disc treatment! Is it so great?? Or is it just because Tarantino is supposed to remake it?
-
That three disc INGLORIOUS BASTARDS is the way to go!
Looking forward to it
-
Surprised to see them releasing these 2,thought they were strictly European erotica/horror.Still nice to have a bit of variation though i won't be bothering with STONE,saw this via the VTC pre-cert and whilst it's well made it ain't my really my thing.
Btw how many releases of THE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS are there now?
-
I might be wrong but this must be the fifth DVD release of Inglorious Bastards... It's a great film and all but three discs? I'll be interested to see what kind of extras warrant such lavish treatment.
-
I was meant to add that news item to their site the other day but you beat me to it. I'm working on their site update now.
-
I presume that Inglorious is one of those titles that will sell more copies than anything else on their list, so good on them for getting the release licence.
Although they perhaps should have plugging Tarantino on the cover to triple sales! Perhaps they could add a peel-off sticker to the cover so avoid offending everyone else who thinks Tarantino is over-rated garbage...
-

Well one of the 3 discs will be the soundtrack - which has been released before, by Dagored (perhaps this will be a longer release, the Dagored is only 37 minutes long). I like this film but I think I`ll stick with the Koch disc.
-
Why isn't BEAST IN SPACE mentioned on their website any more in the "Coming Soon" (http://www.severin-films.com/perl/search.pl?LABEL=Coming&RPP=10) or "Future" (http://www.severin-films.com/future.html) sections? I already have the Japanese DVD of INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, but I'll probably buy this and STONE anyway.
-
Pass on Inglorious. Glad I saw it, but sold my copy quick. As far as QT, I hope to goodness or badness he doesn't remake this. Once was enough.
Maybe on Stone. Depends on what I think about the footage.
-
Why isn't BEAST IN SPACE mentioned on their website any more in the "Coming Soon" or "Future" sections?
it's there - you just caught the site as I was updating it.
-
PHEW! I'll be getting each and every future Severin release, since it seems like you're one of the few labels still putting out good stuff..
-
I'm happy with the Another World Entertainment 2 disc.. do you think this'll be the same as AWE with an added soundtrack cd?
-

Just read a post by Wim C on another board about this. This is great news!

aw shits, I've never even seen Stone, but I'll purchase it based on the cover art alone
although i don't know wtf I'm talking about right about now, after having nearly 375ml of Jameson's, and a fair number of Smitchwick's
-
Just wait 'till you hear what other titles they have lined up for the rest of the year :D

I'm hoping one of them will be D'amato's PLEASURE SHOP ON 7TH AVENUE.

why's that, was you thinking of jerking off? :-*
-
Marc I would like to see Severin do a widescreen transfer of Argentos Sleepless. That would be excellent.
it's already got a widescreen release in the U.K. on M.I.A., the Italian disc on Medusa is also widescreen, only the shitty U.S. disc is fullscreen on artisan.
-
Why they don't release something like A Quiet Place in the Country (if MGM/UA don't have it) I have no idea.
That would be right up Severin's alley.
-
I just noticed that Severin's distributor has labelled the XXX version of Beast in Space as a Private Screening Collection title.

Saw the Australian dvd of STONE, it rules... I love the music cues throughout the film, definitely a classic.

How Far Is Too Far?

-
I love movies about dwarves that are sinful! :P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PQV57S7I-s
-
You might want to catch the porno film CAUGHT BY DWARVES then. Honest, it exists, I once had it but was so disturbed by the site of a full grown woman having sex with half a dozen sex dwarves that I gave it away.
-
I'm guessing you didn't make a copy before you got rid of it then? :-\
-
I would be happy if they put that and CITIZEN out. Two wonderful flicks deserving legit releases as far as I'm concerned.
Any Petri film on DVD would be great!
Recently picked up the Russian R0 NTSC DVD of 10th VICTIM, and sold my OOP R1 NTSC Anchor Bay version online for a tidy little sum. :-\
-
How Far Is Too Far? ;)
Marc:
Do you know anything about the Severin release?
Last week I bought a Dutch fullscreen NTSC R0 version of THE SINFUL DWARF from the Sodemented Label, which I still haven't opened.

-
Sell it - the new Severin DVD will be mastered in HD. I sold my Japanese disc on eBay last week.
-
Oh boy, oh boy - I'm such a Severin whore. Just picked up both versions of The Beast in Space (as I did with Emanuelle Around the World and Gwendaline). These guys can do no wrong in my eyes.
Looking forward to this year, they seem to be stepping their game up with the level of output! Roll on.
-
The UK Nucleus release of Gwendoline is pretty good too :D

Did I mention i'm also a Nucleus whore? lol - I have that version(s) too, dear sir!

Stone has disappeared from the forthcoming titles - has it been cancelled?
-
Just read a post over at Maniacs and DVD aficianado has listed two new DVD releases slated for August...
Sergio Bergonzelli's 'In the Folds of the Flesh' / 'Nelle pieghe della carne' (1970)
and
Franco Prosperi's 'Terror' aka 'The Last House on the Beach' / 'La settima donna' (1978)
Cool news about Bergonzelli's film but I do wonder how they can improve upon the Sazuma release of 'Terror'?
-
Stone has disappeared from the forthcoming titles - has it been cancelled?
Although the Severin website still lists INGLORIOUS BASTARDS as 5/20/08, it has been pushed back to 7/29/08. STONE is still isted as 5/20/08 at amazon.com.
My guess is that STONE has also been pushed back, like INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, or delayed.

That Bergonzelli sounds ace. Not seen it but I'm looking forward to getting my mits on a copy!
-
Cool news about Bergonzelli's film but I do wonder how they can improve upon the Sazuma release of 'Terror'?
They can make it cheaper (although it'll probably be a PAL-NTSC standards conversion - hopefully not). Some nice extras, hopefully.

Well, it doesn't matter how cheap it is it won't make up for the fact that a lot of people will already have the 2 disc edition from Sazuma.
Will the Severin edition include the soundtrack CD like the Sazuma release has?
-
I hope these titles are still coming out...

Cool stuff Magnus, where'd you score those then?
Any info as to whether the Lovelock interview will be all new or a port of the one on the Sazuma release?
-
yea, I can't say I'll be buying this Severin version, as I already have the excellent Sazuma one and the old Japanese disc... Why is it companies around the world keep taking turns releasing the same films on DVD? TORSO immediately comes to my mind...
-
From what I've heard 'Stone' has been cancelled
You appear to be right. Yesterday, I received an email from DVD Planet informing me that my order for STONE has been cancelled. :-[

September 30:
Hairdresser's Husband http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100112/
Nominated For 7 César Awards Including Best Film Best Actor Best Director Best Screenplay
In this acclaimed masterpiece from Oscar® nominated writer/director Patrice Leconte (RIDICULE, THE PERFUME OF YVONNE), legendary French actor Jean Rochefort (MAN ON THE TRAIN) stars as an older man whose childhood sexual obsession with a local hairdresser leads him one day to the shop of beautiful young Mathilde (Anna Galiena from JAMON, JAMON). What follows is a romance of ultimate sensual devotion, where love will walk the line between physical pleasure and eternal desire. Anne-Marie Pisani (DELICATESSEN) co-stars in this uncommon erotic classic that DVD Savant hails as “one of the most remarkable and affecting love stories ever told!”
The Perfume of Yvonne http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110776/
From The Writer/Director Of RIDICULE, MONSIEUR HIRE, THE GIRL ON THE BRIDGE, and THE HAIRDRESSER’S HUSBAND
From Oscar® nominated filmmaker Patrice Leconte comes this story of love, loss and memory that lingers like no other. It is the summer of 1958 in wealthy Lake Geneva, where an enigmatic young Frenchman (Hippolyte Girardot of JUMP TOMORROW and MANON OF THE SPRING) begins an affair with a beautiful starlet (stunning model Sandra Majani) under the watchful eye of her flamboyant elderly mentor (Jean-Pierre Marielle of COUP DE TORCHON and THE DA VINCI CODE). But in a season full of secrets, is truth the most elusive passion of all? Richard Bohringer (THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE & HER LOVER) co-stars in the international hit that DVD Times calls “a spellbindingly erotic slice of nostalgia combining sensuous photography, a brilliant soundtrack and a trio of pitch-perfect performances.”

These are just mock-ups for last week's VDSA - that's my frame grab on the perfume of Yvonne cover!
-
I love HAIRDRESSER'S HUSBAND. ;) Can.t Wait for the DVD, but guess I'll have to. :-[ The Dance Jean Rochefort does in the film is hilarious! ::)
-
Severin provided the extras on the upcoming Second Sight UK releases too.
-
Cool stuff Magnus, where'd you score those then?
Any info as to whether the Lovelock interview will be all new or a port of the one on the Sazuma release?
That would be interesting, but honestly, as much as I love Ray he repeats the same antidotes frequently. I was bumming there wasn't more that was new in the Living Dead... interview.
I sold the Japanese dvd of "Terror" and have the Sazuma. I'll pass.
Should Severin ever gets their hands on Queens of Evil, and ask Jonny & Mark to help, I'd definitely triple dip to land an official copy.
-
I've just done a big update over at the Severin site...
-
Nice one.
Finally confirmed my suspicions that the featurette on LAST HOUSE ON THE BEACH is ported over from the Sazuma release.

That's great news! I have the Italian L'Alcova dvd, but I'm sure Severin's release will blow that one away (and in English!). Eager to get the others as well.
-
I'm looking forward to a new DVD of ART OF LOVE (I may be the only person who actually thinks the end title song works even if the preceding epilogue doesn't). I have a Greek tape of L'ALCOVA which should look nice in anamorphic widescreen but isn't one of my favorites (its better than THE PLEASURE, though).
-
Was almost starting to think that Severin were losing their trailblazing touch (sorry but Inglorious Bastards, Last House On The Beach)... but that's a great new bundle of releases. Can't wait.

Wonderful news,all hail Severin ;)
-
That is very cool. See there's a footnote mentioning Severin plan to release DOOR INTO SILENCE; I've never seen the flick and although I've heard some pretty damning critiques, will definitley be picking that up too.
-
The DOOR INTO SILENCE news was part of their last website update (that's a scan of my Japanese VHS on there). I'll be updating the Severin site again shortly with even more exciting news. And STONE is riding back into town too!
-
Good news about Nightmare Castle. Will this be a subtitled print? The dubbing is pretty bad on my English-language tape. Always held off buying Door Into Silence but will pick up Severin's disc.
-
Wow, this is great news! Do we have a rought idea on a street date? before Christmas I hope!! :)
-
I know that IN THE FOLDS OF FLESH has been bumped to September 2nd (according to DVD Pacific) and that BLOODY MOON and LAST HOUSE ON THE BEACH have been bumped to the 9th, but has anyone received DEVIL HUNTER or CANNIBAL TERROR, both August 26th releases, yet? :-[
-
I've received a review disc for Cannibal Terror and the good news is that the disc looks simply superb. As for the film.... I wouldn't particularly recommend it, but it is never boring.
My full review - Cannibal Terror (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Cannibal%20Terror.html).

Damn! Took me a long time but I just saw this! I can't wait for this disc! There are many cool releases from Severin that I have missed and need to order them. But I don't really want to order from the States. Is there some European site that sells the whole Severin catalogue?
-
You're not the only one who managed to miss this! I had no idea HANNA D. was being released until I saw it today. But it's damn good news! Rino Di Silvestro has made a lot of interesting films so I'm really looking forward to this one!
-

I use axelmusic.com for getting US DVDs in Europe - you can pay in £ or €, shipping is pretty quick, customer service has always been good - I must have spent well over £1000 there in the last couple of years. They have the complete Severin library.
EDIT: Plus, since they ship from Denmark, packages sent anywhere within the EU can avoid customs charges!
-
Thank you Tim! I will be checking this site out for sure!
Johan- hopefully they will do LOVE AND DEATH IN A WOMAN'S PRISON or PROSTITUZIONE next :) Its too bad that Di Silvestro is mostly remembered for WEREWOLF WOMAN. Its fun but I never considered it too special.
-
Anyone know what's happening with IN THE FOLDS OF THE FLESH,noticed BLOODY MOON has been delayed again so i'm really hoping this is still on track for release next week?
-
Anyone know what's happening with IN THE FOLDS OF THE FLESH,noticed BLOODY MOON has been delayed again so i'm really hoping this is still on track for release next week?
Have no idea, mate - it was still showing today's date when I checked DVD Pacific yesterday; I'm getting a little tired of it now, in all honesty. If they'd delayed these releases by three months and stuck to the new date, I wouldn't care, but they just seem to keep rolling the releases back, month in, month out.
-
Cheers Paul.
Does seem to becoming something of a habit with this otherwise great label, paid for my copy 2 months back and am starting to wonder if i should have just waited till it was actually in stock.
-
As I said on my own forum, I've been helping Severin out with both Bloody Moon and Devil Hunter, and they've learned a lesson here: don't announce titles until they're ready.
To say these two have been a nightmare to restore is something of an understatement. Missing scenes, missing audio, cut negatives, you name it, there's been a problem with it.
I just spoke with Severin and I'll be posting an announcement on their site about these titles later.
They've also been snowed under with laying on launch and birthday parties etc for The Inglorious Bastards too don't forget ;)
-
OK, I've just this minute posted a news update over at Severin:
The nightmare of Franco restoration (http://www.severin-films.com/news.html)
-
Well they're certainly making a real effort with those releases and i'll give them credit for keeping us all informed and even apologising for the delay, hats off to Severin :P
-

Yep! (Kudos to Severin)
I'd rather wait a couple of months and get the most complete versions available (with the French track on the DEVIL HUNTER disc) than a rush job. :'(
It's not like most of us don't have enough DVDs, DVD-Rs, VHS or PAL tapes, Books, CD soundtracks, etc., to keep us busy gettin' our EuroCult fix till October 28th. :-*
-
Wow, sounds like a lot of work. I do think Severin are far and away the top cult DVD firm of the year and they have certainly put and end to the critics who said that euro-cult on DVD was dead.
In regards to this news posting, at least Severin are happy to let people know what is going on, so many cult DVD firms will simply close the shutters when there are delays like this, so people don't know what is going on (see No Shame and their complete disappearance in the market).
-
The nightmare of Franco restoration (http://www.severin-films.com/news.html)
Sounds like a nightmare indeed! I can't wait for BLOODY MOON on DVD! I remember not liking DEVIL HUNTER much but I'll give it another by buying this DVD.
-
My pre-orders for THE PERFUME OF YVONNE and THE HAIRDRESSER'S HUSBAND were both cancelled, stating that they were discontinued by the manufacturer.
-
The release dates have been put back to 2009.
-
I appreciate all the hard work that goes into their releases, but I'm staying away from the company until films by actors/directors I like are available. All but two Severin releases I've purchased have been huge disappointments imo, enough to make me stay away until the (hopeful) Castellari release(s).
Still I wish them continued success and luck.
-
For those of you who like your eurosleaze softcore you can find the re-release of Malabimba: The Malicious Whore from Severin here: Malabimba - Severin DVD at Diabolik link (http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Preorders/Malabimba-DVD-(Unrated-Softcore-Version)-(NTSC-Region-1).html) ...I cannot comment on how it differs from the XXX version, which is also in stock on the same site and beats the ludicrous prices offered on Amazon hands-down.
-
"The disc will include a new high-definition transfer of the movie, interviews with actors Henson, Mary Larkin, Denis Gilmore, Roy Holder and Rocky Taylor and chats with composer John Cameron and “Riding Free” singer Harvey Andrews, who also perform renditions of their work from the film (see a sample clip of Andrews below). Fango editor Chris Alexander is contributing an introduction to the DVD, which will street in October (exact date to be announced)"

fucking AWESOME!
This was one of the very first cult movies I ever owned.. bought it at KMart in the early 90s .. probably on the Good Times label. Actually been thinking about tracking down the old DVD but I'm glad I didn't.
I'm excited for this one. >:(
-
Exciting news! This is an old favourite. And has been in need of a decent release for ages
-
"The disc will include a new high-definition transfer of the movie.
Sounds great, can't wait.
Just got back to the Northwest from holidays - visiting brothers & sisters, nieces & nephews, aunts & uncles and cousins at a wilderness lodge in the Ozarks - and WEAPONS OF DEATH has arrived. Can't wait to spii it! ::)

Amazing news!
What do you know about Jodo, Ben. :-\
This is good news - I was thinking about selling my UK disc. Should mean I'll have enough to replace with the Blu-ray and may be a little more on top.

Severin are having a 50% off sale to celebrate their Five Year Anniversary. Tons of great Eurotrash for good prices -- a lot are only $9.99!

If you're needing to fill in any gaps in your collection, you better hurry -- it ends tomorrow at Midnight!

A number of titles from the Black Emanuelle series, as well as Malabimba: The Malicious Whore, are going OOP in the next few weeks, and Severin is selling the remaining of their stock at great prices: the Black Emanuelle boxsets are $19.99, and the individual titles are $9.99.
Unfortunately, they don't ship outside of the US.
If a fellow forum member from the US is willing to help out an European member by picking up a few titles and shipping them to Europe, let me know. :D

Oh well, problem solved, and DVDs bought... ;D

I thought I would take a chance & placed an order for one of the Black Emmanuelle sets on the 24th but they only took the money from my Paypal account yesterday. Fingers crossed :-\
-
Couldn't resist... just ordered both Black Emanuelle box sets
-
Both BE box sets have arrived. Cheers Funktion. ::)

Has anyone tried to visit the Severin site recently? I go there & the site appears to be offline. Anyone have any info on their status?

Yes, the website seems totally dead. They are probably transferring the domain.
I wouldn't worry. Severin-Films is still active on Twitter and Facebook.

I now have to go and buy another copy of The House That Dripped Blood on DVD sometime.

Blame Marc. He was 100% adamant that there would NOT be a HD scan of the elements over at pre-cert the other day. All of a sudden he turned turtle and starts championing a new HD scan...

Hope it does come out on Blu. This is an essential Euro-purchase. :-X

I agree Ben, DVD is good enough for me too :)

Reporting they have the Shriek Show extras for their BD, sounds like a new scan over 88 Films ( 2K instead of HD scan ).

Nothing there that takes my fancy to be honest!
-
Sounds like Severin are Blu'ing all the old Shriek Show releases...Lol. Is Mike Barronas skint, Lol ;D
-
Severin also has a batch of Franco titles they have yet to announce.
I think they are doing their own transfer for BURIAL GROUND and not using what 88 Films had done.
-
I wonder whether 88's Anthrophagous can be improved upon. Im guessing Severin's will have the Shriek Show extras. I already have the SS dvd so this is not a reason enough for me to buy it.

Coming in May
https://severin-films.com/shop/blackenstein-bluray/
Two Versions Of The Most Notorious Blaxploitation Shocker Of Them All…
And The Most Insane Backstory Ever.
You may have heard of this infamous Blaxploitation/Horror hybrid, but the real story is even more bizarre: In 1973, criminal-lawyer-turned-wannabe-monster-movie-mogul Frank R. Saletri wrote and produced this grindhouse hit about a Black soldier mortally wounded in Vietnam transformed into a rampaging monster by an L.A. mad scientist. Almost a decade later, Saletri himself would be murdered gangland-style in a crime that remains debated – and unsolved – to this day. John Hart (TV’s “The Lone Ranger”), ‘40s Hollywood starlet Andrea King (THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS) and even former mob moll/stripper Liz Renay (DESPERATE LIVING) star in this jaw-dropper directed by William A. Levey (THE HAPPY HOOKER GOES TO WASHINGTON), now restored with all-new Special Features that spotlight the entire twisted saga!
Special Features:
Theatrical Release Version (78 Mins.) and Video Release Version (87 Mins.)
Monster Kid: Interview with Writer / Producer Frank R. Saletri’s Sister, June Kirk
Archive News Broadcast On The Murder Of Writer / Producer Frank R. Saletri
Producers / Directors / Actors Ken Osborne And Robert Dix Remember Writer / Producer Frank R. Saletri
