Title: "Blindman" soundtrack-
Post by: The Hunchback on 07 Jul 2007 - 21:31
Pick this up before they go out of print!

Quite possibly Stelvio Cipriani's best score!

A friend of mine mentioned this score the other day saying how good it was. I've got it on my mp3 player but haven't listened to  it yet, I like Cipriani so I'll make sure I give it a listen next time I'm in the car.

It's damn good.  I buy every Cipriani CD that comes out, and this is definitely in the top 10 best.

I was listening to this in the car yesterday afternoon, you can't beat some sitars in a Spaghetti Western score! I really like it!

Got the UK cinema press-kit if anyone is interested:

UK poster
Selection of stills
Fantastic marketing materials (Landlords - why not do the Blindman game? Get the beers in and blindfold your darts team to play BLINDMAN in your pub!).

Most of the BLINDMAN posters look like shit, however the Japanese one is ace ;)

Imho, one of the best if not the best Spaghetti Western score around.
Easily beats even Morricone's best efforts.

Incredibly entertaining, due to bold combinations of sounds and styles.
I never get tired of listening to this damn fine soundtrack.

That's what struck me too: completely fits the West beats and steals East's concept. I'm glad I found an official copy.

As someone who owns most of the crap Blindman posters I agree with this.

Would like to see the U.K. one too.

I haven't seen the Japanese one for cheaper than $300 so I'm passing.

I still stick to that statement, paperbag.

The Maestro is a giant in the soundtrack business, of course, and I dig most of his scores, in particular those for the Eastwood verhicles.

However, I prefer Cipriani's score because of its variety and inventiveness. Most Italian Western scores of the early 70s were formulaic or tried to reach originality by a crazy mixture of styles that simply didn't work together well.

Just my 2ยข.
