Title: A Long Ride from Hell / Vivo per la tua morte (Camillo Bazzoni, 1968)
Post by: Mart85 on 08 Mar 2008 - 19:24
Coming soon from Wild East!

I've seen it but it was a while back.  I wish I could remember more about it because I remember thinking it was pretty good.

Anyone else seen it?

never seen this one Mart, i've only seen Reeves in Peplum's, i don't like the cover though, looks a bit dodgy to me :-\

and actually behind on the last few wild east releases, i'll have to back track at some point.

Hahaha yeah.  It's gayer than Yul's costume in ADIOS SABATA.

Same here with the Wild East DVDs.  I want to get CHUCK MOOL and KILL THEM ALL AND COME BACK ALONE but I ian't got the spare cash at the moment.

LONG RIDE FROM HELL is pretty damn good. Reeve's last movie too I think. Lots of interesting set pieces. Train assault, prison break, etc...

Never seen it but it has a good write-up in WAI vol. 3. They mention that Reeves was instrumental in getting this film made, also co-writing the screenplay. Strange that in the book the credits list Camillo Bazzoni as director, but in the body of the review they state that Luigi Bazzoni in fact did. Rosalba Neri is in it too, seems. I`m sold!

I've seen it (got the Austrian VHS) and as far as I remember, it was quite enjoyable...it's been some years though! :)

I got it on the Wild East label and I would highly recommend it.
Its one of the better SW's I have seen lately.

Actually the picture quality isn't to impressive, but its not horrible either.
The film thoug is very good and that is the most important thing for me.

It is basically the same as the Spanish disc, which isn't a surprise. :D

Last two screenshots show the usual problems with lots of WE discs, from bad PAL to NTSC transfer? Anyways if that hasn't bothered you before, then it won't here either.

Coming from Code Red January 11, 2011.  Just got my review copy.  Unlike the 4:3 Italian disc and the previously PAL-converted Wild East disc, the Code Red one is a new 16:9 transfer with the US Cinerama Releasing logo.

Those screengrabs look lovely.  like a real DVD!    I will say though , I just put the WE DVD of Long Ride on pause and I want to report the picture quality really isn't bad at all.  It's a conversion for sure but far from anything I would complain about, myself.  I will finish the movie and decide if I really want to upgrade. These days I have a million other things to spend my money on.. hmm maybe dad could use this for Christmas and I could pick up the Code Red DVD but I'm not too sure.  Nice cast though,  with Guido Lollobrigida, Aldo Sambrell, Nello Pazzafini, Franco Fantasia, and my favorite guy Spartaco Conversi.  :-X

Me to the rescue (as usual  :-\):

Someone at the Spaghetti Western Forums asked me to match their caps HERE (http://www.spaghetti-western.net/forum/index.php/topic,1429.msg113907.html#msg113907).

Besides the DVDBeaver review (http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/dvd_reviews53/a_long_ride_from_hell.htm) I was also asked recently to review the film for DVD Drive-In (http://dvddrive-in.com/reviews/i-m/longridefromhell68.htm).

yep.  i'm usually more a lurker there since I haven't had much time to watch the stack of SW DVDs and DVDRs I have.  When I got the Code Red disc for review, I thought I should post it there.

Seems sales are really bad...

"LONG RIDE FROM HELL (1968) Western Italian Style with Hercules guy Steve Reeves will be Out Of Print.   Sales was terrible and I will take my loss and stop selling it since it was a long ride to get rid of 700 copies.   This will be a collector's item due to the overseas version is not 16x9 nor the WildEast dvd (which is also sold out).   I spend alot of money doing a new master in the hopes Western fans will double dip, but the sales just wasn't there.3 copies left at Amazon and 2 at diabolik, but it before it become a $100 dvd in ebay." I spend alot of money doing a new master in the hopes Western fans will double dip
Most of the collectors including myself at the SWDB double dipped as it looks better than the Wild East release.

So that's about 12 copies sold, then?  :-\
