Title: WESTERN ALL'ITALIANA books by Glittering Images
Post by: Gary B. on 17 May 2008 - 19:21
Has anyone got these?  I'm wondering what they look like, what the content is, as I'm really interested in buying them, but would like to see some sample pages first before shelling out $45 for each of them.  thanks!

All three have English text? I wasn't aware. Damn, I may have to pick these up now! Hopefully, they're still in print.

:-* I just looked at them on xploited. I guess the price put me off and I didn't bother to look at the text. :-* :-* :-*

I got these a while back after seeing these photos, and haven't gone a day without looking at them.  Highest possible recommendation to anyone with even a passing interest in the SW genre.

One weird thing I noticed though, is that there is a section for CHATO'S LAND, which is a U.S. made film...???

There`s a couple films in the books that aren`t sw - THE SINGER NOT THE SONG as well. I suppose it`s the influence that one had on sw and the influence that sw had on CHATO`S LAND that justifies their inclusion. These books are the reference on the genre, I constantly refer to `em.

It may be because it was shot in Spain, and as it is directed by Michael Winner it may be considered a Euro western.

That`s a good point, as parts of THE SINGER NOT THE SONG (D: Roy Ward Baker) were also shot in Spain - a reason to have it in there although its style, look, and subtext is also mentioned.

Weren't they also supposed to publish a volume of their Bizarre Sinema! series soon dedicated to the giallo?

It would be nice if they did, or even a crime one ::)

Has anyone here ordered from Kultvideo.com (http://www.kultvideo.com/)?  How reliable are they and how fast is shipping to the US?  Thanks.

I've always had excellent serivce from kultvideo but I don't know how long they take to get stuff to the US.  Though I'm sure one of the US LLLers will come along soon and let you know, Jaho.

I usually get Kult orders within 2 weeks from when he ships them out (I live on the West Coast).

I'm considering ordering direct from Glittering Images, because there are a lot of their books that I want, and it makes sense to get them from the source (instead of dealing with the damage probability from getting a book shipped all over europe instead of straight from them)

All of Glittering Images' books are well worth getting IMO. They have all sorts of information and reproductions that aren't available elsewhere.

Wish they would publish their giallo volume - I remember seeing a picture of Stefano Piselli on the Euro Film Score Yahoo group where he has the manuscript in his hands...

Agreed, I only have a few of their books so far, but they're all constantly being pulled from the shelf and referenced.  Especially these Western ones, which I can't believe I waited as long as I did to buy them!

A giallo volume would be great!  I imagine it would be in multiple volumes like the Western series?
