Anyone else a fan of this wonderful Antonioni flick - It’s a brilliant film – one that definitely requires repeat viewings. It’s rather languid pacing is most definitely not for all tastes but it’s definitely a rewarding experience for those that are patient.

A bored and restless war correspondant swaps his identity with a dead man in a North African hotel, and like a moth to a flame is drawn to the danger of his new persona - an international arms dealer engaged in a deal with a 3rd world terrorist group...

The Passenger is one of those love-it or hate-it movies, and for me its probably my favourite Antonioni (closely followed by L'Avventura and Zabriskie Point). Its a brilliantly strange and enigmatic film considering the above synopsis sounds like it was lifted from a tightly plotted Graham Greene novel. Jack Nicholson plays the journalist David Locke and Maria Schneider, a woman who accompanies Locke on his new journey. There some beautiful and subtle time shifts and transitions along the way, and the film's famous climactic 8-min tracking shot is a stunner... If you missed this one, its well worth seeking out.

Does anyone know if the footage of the prisoner being executed is real a la The Last Road to Hell sequence from Cannibal Holocaust ?

An incredible film. Nicholson's DVD commentary is a real treat.

Anyone interested in picking this up should note that Amazon have it for less than £5.00. I think it's about time I picked it up. I've never seen it but love L'Avventura and L'Eclisse.

I loved this. I saw this for the first time late last year, making it my first Antonioni film. I have no idea why some critics say/said this is "boring". Perhaps they were expecting a typical spy/intrigue popcorn flick with Nicholson hamming it up like he sometimes does?
