Title: ITALIAN CRIME book from MPW
Post by: Gary B. on 30 Nov 2008 - 01:38
Just spotted this upcoming book from the same German company that brought us the Spaghetti-Heroes book and the Cannibal film book - with 4 alternate cover designs (the first cover is my favorite!):

I'll be having one of these! Does anyone know when the money is taken from your account when you pre-order with Chris Soundtrack Corner?

Thanks for the heads up Gary - first cover is my favorite too  :'(

I've got just about enough in my paypal account so don't mind doing a pre-order (not getting nothing from dtm again after the last fiasco) but i can't find a way to choose a cover (i want the Bloody Payroll one)?

I just went ahead and ordered it, I wrote a quick description of which cover I wanted in the comments box and asked if they could confirm which cover I would be getting.

Pretty pricey but a must have item, luckily the wife asked me what I want for Christmas this morning...

...I just hope the thing gets published and sent out in time for the festivities.

not getting nothing from dtm again after the last fiasco

What happened?
They didn't take payment for ages, i obviously thought they took it and then it suddenly came out nearly a month later when i had no money in the bank and i got £65 in charges for going overdrawn, crafty c unts charge £35 for going over and another £30 for honouring the payment, robbing bastards, i phoned them up and complained like fuck but the best they would do was drop one of the two charges :-[

Yep, just picked mine up from the post office - I didn't realise it was a numbered limited edition! Mine is number 227 / 375.

I'm well happy with it, not as text heavy as I'd feared and packed with info. I'll report back later with some pics.

First 229 pages consist of info and write ups on the films, some get 2 pages each and some just 1...

Then there's another 100 pages carrrying just the basic info for some more films, this time with no write ups...

Then there's about 70 pages for the actors and actresses with filmographies...

And the last 48 pages has the Directors index (interview with Di Leo etc) and various other listings...

This book looks fucking awesome, and bloody comprehensive too.  Like some others here I'm flat broke but this fucker looks essential.  (I still have to get that Sartana/Django book too, which I guess is also a limited edition).

Good to see Trash Online recognised for the ages as the high class service it is!  (The fact that they've written 'Englische Synchro' shows you how through the book seems to be with the details).

Fucking awesome stuff.

I'm definitely getting that one too but I actually bought the Lenzi DVD that comes with with from Xploited about a year ago.  (Bad luck too as there were about 60-70 spagwest DVD's I'm after and I picked that one at random out of the list).  The book still looks like awesome value for money though.

Simpel Movie brought out a Gloria Guida mag that has a free DVD of Guida's BLUE JEANS with it.  Their most recent mag is devoted to Traci Lords but strangely enough there's no free movie with that one.   ;D

Ordered mine from Amazon.de last week and it came today (Saturday 7th Feb) What a fantastic book, hardback number 109/375. Full of obscure information, not just the cop/mafia films but crossover gialli as well. Highly recommended. Now if they can produce a  similar book on giallo's, I'd happily read that and die.

The DVD that comes with the Gloria Guida mag is LA RAGAZZINA.

I really need to grab this crime book before it goes OOP...

Just ordered the crime book right then from Amazon.de (even though I'm broker than broke) as I know if I wait around then forget it for a while I'll get the usual OOP results when I next go to search on the fucker.

I've got a chunky Euro filmography project underway (slowly) and the Italian crime films are a big chunk of it - I think this book will save me about 4 months of work.  A similar Eurohorror book would be great, or even some specialised books, how cool would a giant Joe D'Amato book be?

I'll learn German by reading the stuff on Merli's movies and figuring out what they think of it.

-===well damn it, I may just have to buy this one. That Lonely Violent Beach spread just tempted me beyond belief.  ;)

Noticed the Django-Sartana book is still available at Amazon.de too.

Can't justify spending almost a hundred forty dollars on both books, I'm broke too. :(

so if the crime one is still in stock at amazon.de by the end of this week, then I'll get it.

They already have, it's called: "Giallo - die Farbe des Todes" (the colour of death). You can also get it at amazon.de
Though the book is a complete rip-off of "blood and black lace" it's got loads of nice color-pics in it.

That's the German Giallo book that others weren't too keen on?

Shame really, I was hoping for something more like the Polizia and Django-Sartana-Ringo books rather than a straight rip off of Blood & Black Lace.

Thanks for the reminder.  I'll have to pass.

Just got the crime book discussed here and it's great, even if the German text will keep me busy trying to translate it if I ever have the time.  The pics are excellent.  The Sartana book is next on my list - I may yet get the Cannibal and Giallo books just for the pics and posters if I can scrape up the dough.  Has anyone here viewed the contents of the cannibal book, the pics and reproduction and so on?  I'm more than a bit curious.

I agree we need more books like this, especially on giallos and in English.

Everyone who has this book, take a look at the video sleeve painting of Sabato on pg 85, the painting of Harrison on pg 90, and the painting of Helmut Berger on pg 94.

So I guess there's a German artist out there who is only interested in painting tough-guy actors if he can do it so they have ear-to-ear toothy grins?  :-\
