I'm up for this provided that I can get the kids shipped off somewhere overnight.

Anybody else up for it?

I've ordered and paid for the book.

Need to speak to the missus before I can even think about going to London...

If we're not away on holiday and I have the weekend free I'll suggest that she comes with me. Gotta be worth a try, eh?

Not her sort of thing, really - she'd get bored. Even if we just hang out chatting and not watch the films, she'd find the conversation boring - ask Aarron. She'd gladly talk all day about childcare, the housing market, doing up houses and the Apprentice though  :-\

I reckon so. If she sees my Mrs getting into the spirit of things then perhaps she'll start to have an interest in this sort of thing. Or not.

I could keep her enthralled for the day just on that one subject!

Line up :-

double-bill:
TAKE AN EASY RIDE (18) 12.30pm
(running time 45 minutes)
GB, 1976
director: Kenneth Rowles
cast: Helen Bernat, Margaret Heald, Pauline Bates
This cautionary tale about the perils of hitch-hiking is a low-budget exploitation classic, which enjoyed a 48-week uninterrupted Soho run during the late 70s. Unseen since its Iver Film Services pre-cert video release. Screening introduced by director Kenneth Rowles.
...plus...
THE BRUTE (18) 1.15pm
(running time 90 minutes)
GB, 1977
director: Gerry O'Hara
cast: Sarah Douglas, Julian Glover, Roberta Gibbs
Julian Glover plays one of cinema's most disturbing villains in this powerful British film about domestic terrorism. The Brute has remained unreleased in the UK on any format since its pre-cert video debut on the Brent Walker label.

DEATH WEEKEND (18) 3.15pm
(running time 90 minutes)
Canada, 1976
director: William Fruet
cast: Brenda Vaccaro, Don Stroud, Chuck Shamata
This stunning home-invasion horror film from Canada, aka The House by the Lake, has been unseen in the UK since its pre-cert era video release on the Vampix label.

SATAN'S SLAVE (18) 5.25pm
(running time 90 minutes)
GB, 1976
director: Norman J. Warren
cast: Michael Gough, Martin Potter, Candace Glendenning
Director Norman J. Warren will introduce a very rare screening of the export version of his 1976 Satanic shocker, as originally released by early market-leaders Intervision at the dawn of the video era.

EQUINOX (18) 8.00pm
(running time 80 minutes)
USA, 1970
director: Jack Woods & Dennis Muren
cast: Edward Connell, Barbara Hewitt, Frank Bonner
Equinox is rumoured to have influenced classic video nasty The Evil Dead. This rarely screened horror movie has remained unseen in the UK since its two pre-cert video releases on the Mountain and KM labels.

BLACK DEVIL DOLL (18) 9.40pm
(running time 75 minutes)
USA, 2009
director: Jonathan Lewis
cast: Heather Murphy, Natasha Talonz, Christine Svendsen
UK premiere for the most talked-about exploitation film of the year, true to the spirit of the wild pre-cert video era. Chucky meets Dolemite as a jive-talking puppet goes on the rampage!

I can happily live my life without ever seeing BLACK DEVIL DOLL, although the odds are that I'll be completely mangled and back at the hotel by that point anyway.

Won't be going down to London for this guys. Family hols the week before and my first, of many, tattoo appointments a couple of weeks later...

I've been saving up for the best part of a year and a half for the tattoo and I'm sticking to my budget. So no frivolities in London I'm afraid!

No. I was taking the piss out of people who can't wait to post what number ticket they have. Although even by doing that I fear that I might have become one of them.

Just tried booking train tickets - I'd need to take out a second mortgage. I'm driving instead.

And they wonder why people don't use public transport.

Criminal isn't it? Two staff won some tickets to a private screening of a film in London a few weeks ago and had to book the train the week before the event. Cost nearly £400 for 2 tickets! The company paid for them but that still doesn't excuse the price!

I was considering going to this but train prices (I can't drive), staying over night etc would cost a small fortune and I'm a tight bastard so.... May reconsider if I can set aside some cash but I'm currently trying to save for a mortgage deposit (you need about 25% of the asking price these days...).

I was considering flying over from Ireland, but the costs involved (flight; booking fee; taxes) would be too much. Otherwise I'd be going, sounds like a great event (and the Riverside is a nice venue).

Yes! I'd completely forgotten of that "son-of-god"-looking mofo. He even used to wear sandals! Had piercing blue eyes, longish hair and a Mansonesque beard. I'm willing to bet good money that any born-again Christians who have seen him have mistaken him for the second coming... That was until they smelled the c*** and come to the conclusion that there's nothing divine about having the aroma of rotten cabbage...
