Title: Soundtracks that need CD releases.
Post by: Gary B. on 06 Jul 2007 - 21:27
There are so many Italian ones that I'd love to have released, but the main soundtracks that I want badly are:

Morte sospetta di una minorenne (Suspected Death of a Minor) - Luciano Michelini
La Polizia chiede aiuto (What Have They Done To Your Daughters?) - Stelvio Cipriani
Quelli della calibro 38 (Colt .38 Special Squad) - Stelvio Cipriani
Il Boss (The Boss) - Luis E. Bacalov
La Mala ordina (Manhunt) - Armando Trovajoli
La Città sconvolta: caccia spietata ai rapitori (Kidnap Syndicate) - Luis E. Bacalov
Il Grande racket (The Big Racket) - Guido & Maurizio De Angelis
Autostop rosso sangue (Hitch-Hike) - Ennio Morricone

+ a collection of Tomas Milian songs, and another for Ray Lovelock.

Any of these would sell very well I assume...

THE FORGOTTEN PISTOLERO got a release somewhere because it was upped on the Dollari Rosso blog.

I second NAVAJO JOE.

We're currently looking into the possibilities.. but considering that all recent re-issues of Cometa soundtracks released by the Japanese label Avanz has been mastered from vinyl, we suspect that Cometa don't have the original tapes anymore... stay tuned.

Strangely enough, Armando Trovaioli's "Blazing Magnum" has been neglected by the Italian labels.
Well, two or three tunes have been anthologized, but I would really appreciate a full-fledged CD release with alternate versions and the like.

Trovajoli's 'Blazing Magnum' score is coming out on CD via Beat records sometime soon, Pollanet Squad have done the liner notes to it too.  :'(

I think so, there will be 12 tracks....

I agree that Morte sospetta di una minorenne and Il giorno del cobra have really nice scores...

But by personal obsession is Mario Molino's Come Cani Arrabbiati... for my taste that is the excellence

magnus?  :'(

Does the opening credits say who owns the music?

Does the opening credits say who owns the music?

In 1977 a label called something as "Bierre Edizioni" printed only a 45 from this movie

I heard it, in a side there is the track "Come cani arrabbiati" used in compilation Mo' plen 4000 by Irma Records (not a good transfer, however) and in the other side there is an horrible pop song used in the open credits

The rest of the music I think is really excellent, in the link signed by Stephen there is a different theme, I'm sure there is at least another slow theme

However the movie is a bit crazy as all movies by Mario Imperoli...

If this is the case, there will be no new cues, since my vinyl record has the same number of tracks.

Anyway, a clean CD transfer (be it from LP or from low generation tape) with that gorgeous poster artwork on the front cover and some cool shots inside an 8-page booklet is very desirable.

Btw: Has anyone a good digital file of the Blazing Magnum movie poster? Would love to have it on my Mac's desktop. The Japanese poster is great, too. Part of it was used for the front cover of Cinecocktail 3, wasn't it?

Thats a darn pity, as the chase theme is one of the best chase themes ever done and by far the best work of Trovaioli. Hard to understand, why he didnt keep the tapes, why he didnt keep his masterpiece. That has something of a total blackout.

Btw, does anyone know whats the name of the killer beat tune that they put in both, MILANO CALIBRO 9 and IL BOSS. In MILANO it is in the bar scene with Ugo Piazza, some girl is dancing to it and in IL BOSS its when the bitch is fucked, while Henry Silva comes in. Unfortunately she's moaning over the beat.

They should do a composer's cut of the MILANO CALIBRO 9 soundtrack and put that fucking song on. I guess its not by the main group Osanna and doesnt sounds like Bacalov as well. So what is it?

Also, the title theme in the movie sounds a bit alternate than on the release. I remember this title theme making me kinda goosy while watching that flick, that piano or organ sound or what it is, but on the Osanna LP it sounds kinda weak, doesnt hit me right.

So they should release all of the three great Fernando Di Leo soundtracks in a box with all cool sounds that are actually in the movies, as this stuff belongs to the best music that was ever done in crime funk cinema history. But what to do, if some folks lose their best shit? Armando, Armando...

Well, there are a few stories about certain Italian publishers who a couple of years ago set fire on their tapes because nobody was interested in the music. Some of the soundtracks were saved, but others lost forever - at least in their pure form...

Fired?

Maybe they watched too many crime movies?

 :)

You know if the score of BLUTIGER FREITAG by Francesco De Masi has also been fired down? Thats a great score, still waiting for a final release.

Then theres also a huge amount of unreleased Blaxploitation soundtracks, such as DETROIT 9000 by Luchi De Jesus, containing a similar great chase theme as LA MALA ORDINA.

It's great to see that 'Il Grande racket' is coming out via digitmovies this month in that 3 disc box.  I just ordered/pre-ordered a bunch of stuff from them, along with the Navajo Joe soundtrack and that new GDM CD of Delitto al ristorante cinese/sull'autostrada.  It's definitely been a good year for soundtracks, and the future looks good as well.

I've said it elsewhere on this board, but I might as well say it here too:

I'd love to see a CD of Micalizzi's ROMA A MANO ARMATA. And as long as I'm fantasizing, I want it to have a bonus track of the explosion-filled alternate title theme that was used in Aquarius' ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON release.

The only soundtrack comp appearances that ROMA A MANO ARMATA makes (that I know of) are:

1) This new Tomas Milain book/CD (but they're not the original recordings)

2) A comp called PIOMBO ROVENTE (but it doesn't seem to have the title theme)

Oh well....

Oliver Onions' 2019: After the Fall of New York

and

Colt .38 Special Squad

Cipriani is fast becoming a favorite composer of mine.

As much as I love spaghetti westerns, there are very few soundtracks I can listen to outside of the film. That's not the case for Italian crime, gialli, horror and sci-fi scores.

Another one that desperately needs any sort of release is the soundtrack to Polselli's 'Delirio Caldo'. Gianfranco Reverberi's score is one of my all time favourites from any genre. From the ethereal piano and organ parts to the wicked fuzzed out psych-rock which accompanies the first murder at the waterfall, it's just an absolute winner in my opinion!

Le Frisson Des Vampires (1971) soundtrack by Acanthus definitley needs a full release. Very heavy horror prog before Goblin or Antonius Rex.. I think there may have been an original lp, but in recent times the songs are only commerically available in some small clips on a Jean Rollin compilation cd.

have you got the recent 2 disc dvd release on Encore? Just got that in, and the remastered full Acanthus soundtrack is included with the slideshow on the extras disc. Seems to be the closest it'll get to being released, which is a shame...easily some of the very best horror-prog.

CRIMEBUSTERS - Guido & Maurizio De Angelis

yes!!   All the Bud & Terrence soundtracks should be reissued on CD.  I will buy them all  :-*
I'm sure to be in the minority with this one but I think the La Bionda soundtracks are excellent as well.  Cats and Dogs, Who Finds a Treasure, and for some great mid 80s electro pop  Miami Supercops.   Unfortunately I have heard these will probably never see the light of day.

I'd love to see these released on cd:
-Addio Zio Tom (Riz Ortolani)

This is one of my favorite scores of all time - possibly THEE one that nailed it as far as me turning into a soundtrack nut.  It's an awesome, unique and memorable score.  I would KILL to see GDM or Verita Note do something with this.  Luckily the vinyl LP is pretty easy to find.

I watched SECRETS OF A CALL GIRL over the weekend and I'd love to see Luciano Michelini's soundtrack (which features some great vocals by Edda Dell'Orso) released as well.

Agreed.  Michelini is underrated.  I really love GAMBLING CITY!  Not so much the more crime-music cues but the rest of it..  Absolutely nuts about that main title track.

Didn`t I read here - or somewhere, anyway - that SMILE BEFORE DEATH/IL SORRISO DELLA IENA was coming out? That`s in my top 5 most wanted for sure.

Can't remember what they're called but i haven't got it to hand.

It's got the slow song and the really good and uptempo main theme on it.

I'd love to have Pluto Kennedy's soundtracks for EROTIC NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD, and THE BEAST IN SPACE be released.  This stuff is amazing!  What else did he score?

Pluto Kennedy was a pseudonym of Marcello Giombini. Unfortunately, it seems that several of his master tapes were reused for other scores and therefore the original sessions (for example of Massaccesi's ANTROPOPHAGUS) are lost. I don't know about THE BEAST IN SPACE, though.

The editor of the ANTROPOPHAGUS fanpage (http://d-udo.de/antropophagus/) has rerecorded some tunes, including themes from EROTIC NIGHTS. You can find them here:

Formula uno, febbre della velocità - There's some classic Guido Maurizio De Angelis music in this documentary, i'd never heard before.

I'd like to see the soundtrack to Grazie Signore P...(utana) get a release. The music by Giancarlo Chiaramello is great and definitely helps make this so-so film more watchable (even if a lot of the music seems misplaced or inappropriate).

I would love a CD of Stelvio Cipriani's Caribbean scores for the Joe D'Amato voodoo cannibal films.  Four tracks from PAPAYA were released on LP double-billed with ENFANTASME (has anyone seen that film, the score is great?).

LE NOTTI DEL TERRORE aka. BURIAL GROUND - Elsio Mancuso and Berto Pisano

Jazzy easy listening (taken from some other film, I guess) paired with wild electronic beeps. I'd love to have it.  8)

Recently saw Cavallone's "L'uomo la donna e la bestia" and was fascinated about the soundtrack which was composed by Claudio Tallino. There is one musical piece in particular that reminded me of the score of Jörg Buttgereit's "Todesking". Of course, chronologically speaking it should be vice-versa but I have seen Todesking first. Anyway, I don't think that Tallino's score is available on CD or LP and that is truly a pity!

I too would really like to see the Knife of Ice soundtrack on CD. The trailer is like a music video and I put it on my ipod but it's not enough!
