Here'[s a copy of the mail I sent:

Hello there,

There's a title, and I believe it's currently owned by Canal+. The title in question is:

La Polizia incrimina la legge assolve (aka HIGH CRIME). The film was made by director Enzo G. Castellari in 1973, and stars Franco Nero and Fernando Rey.

There’s a legion of fans that are after a decent release of this Italian crime classic. I don’t want you to take just my word for this, as I’m going to make it my task to get as many people to contact you as possible.

Thanks for your time and best regards,

Comp

And I love the cliffhanger ending, did Franco bite it? or was he just jolted out of bitter memories by a gunshot from the continuing shoot-out.  Sort of reminds me of the end of Roma Violenta. Was Blondie's daydream prophetic? or was it just the mental anguish of a badly beaten-up cripple.
Hey thats a good question as i didn't (having also only watched it )think it was anything other than Belli being shot,so a good excuse to put this on again.

Thanks for the suggestion Companero and I'll certainly be dropping Canal+ an email. :D

Found my copy of this after losing it for a while, gonna give it a re-watch soon. That opening car chase is brilliant.

Thats the one I have. It did hinder my enjoyment somewhat to be honest, but its a class film isnt it and its a cheap disk.

I have a terrible DVD of A Bay of Blood, really shity quality, but its presented like its not (the case) bladdy ebay. Made me wise to stick to reliable company's (no shane, anchor bay, blue underground etc)

It'll do until a better version is released but it's no better than my Pre-cert VHS tape!

BLAKE: Any other Euro-crime or gialli films coming out?

LUSTIG: High Crime, the Franco Nero and Enzo G. Castellari cop movie. Finally we found the negative and plan to release it in February, but we’ll see.

Why couldn't they have used the same negative as the Japanese dvd???

Cool sounding news! I hope Lustig pulls it off, I know he really holds this film in high regard so if he's made the effort so far I'm sure he'll do his best to get this out. It'd be a great final Italian crime film Blue Underground to put out.

As regards not using the Japanese DVD master, maybe the elements Lusig has found are far superior to the ones used all those years ago in Japan?

Many of the Japanese prints would be rejected by US companies - they're actually quite fussy and many Jap prints leave a lot to be desired.
