A mate of mine passed this onto me in 2002 ( a good two and a half years before most of the films came out in Italy) and he was dallying with the idea of putting them out in the UK, though it never happened.

Minerva would end up putting the Italian DVDs out themselves, on the Raro label. Guess no one else wanted to buy them... or they wanted too much money to licence them, which is more likely.

Very cool indeed. What a set of films to let slip through your fingers!  ???

Truth be told, they probably wouldn't have sold many copies in England, eh?  :-[

I suppose not. Might have sold a few round the world if they had Italian and English options, but not enough to make it worthwhile I guess.

Just got a Variety magazine from Januray 1982 - my first. Really cool but I wasn't prepared for the massive size of it. Not only is it big but it's also fat - this is more like a catalogue than a magazine! This made scanning ads kinda tricky and time-consuming too but I did two, and will probably do more when I have time. There's weren't really any Euro ads in this one, though...

Still fascinates me that any cheap independent exploitation film from any country could get worldwide theatrical or video distribution thanks to MIFED and Cannes at that time. Golden era.

Reminds me of Mondo Macabro who started out in the UK with cool releases like DR JEKYLL VS.THE WEREWOLF but ended up moving to the US because sales were not that great.

It was indeed a golden age when all kinds of films could get international distribution. That's the reason we got so enormously many cool films in those days, whereas today, it often feels as if there's only a market for big Hollywood films and remakes!  :-[

Ad for a rare boxing film called RING. Hmm... an Italian ROCKY rip-off sounds pretty cool to me! Anyone seen it?

It's very much in the vein of a Neapolitan sceneggiata/crime hybrid with most of the boxing stuff happening near the end, definitely worth a look a look if you're a fan of that genre.

I am looking for an Ad in Variety for Legend of King Kong, An Universal project never produced. It is a variety issue from 1976.

You should see some of the crap that's being sold at these markets now!

MIFED packed up years ago. It wasn't a good market toward the end, and was in a really boring part of Milan.

I still have all the catalogues I picked up over the years too, including the one Paul posted above.

INTERNATIONAL PROSTITUTION- this has to be the greatest film title ever!  :-\ Is the film as good as the title suggests? Anybody has it/has seen it?

I've got a rare tape from Hong Kong. Must give it a watch.

Conspiracy of Silence, eh?
Sounds good. And anyway, Richard Todd is much better casting for an English police inspector than the out-of-place Martin Balsam, but then again Balsam had a bigger name.

I am interested in these unmade StarWars imitations in Famous Monsters.
What was the cast for Argonauts in the Stars.
