Can anyone please confirm the original aspect ratio of Death Laid An Egg? I believe it to be 1.85:1 but there are some sources claiming 2.35:1 The framing and credits look designed for 1.85:1 in my opinion. I have an Italian language VHS - part of the Thriller Erotico All'Italiana Collezione - which looks to be 1.78:1 - the opening credits are cropped. I've got an English language bootleg tape somewhere here but haven't found it to check it yet - think it's 1.85:1 though. Just wondering after I snapped up the Japanese disc on ebay (£15) earlier today.

The Japanese disc is approx 1.85:1.

Blue Underground had planned to release it, but it never happened.

Read an interview with Bill Lustig who said the Italian owners were asking way too much money for the rights to the film. He said that, in light of poor genre sales at the moment, Blue Underground would have lost a bundle on it. Simple economics.

Just received a fan composite of this today, anyone know who did this one?  The scenes deleted from the Japanese DVD are included as extras and taken from the German VHS release in German language only.  I am not sure if they have been edited back into the film though.  If they haven't I might have a go at doing it over the Christmas break.  Here are some screenshots from the DVD:

Good find Oli, never knew that any deleted scenes existed. I've read about speculation as to whether there was ever a longer version than the one on Japanese DVD but no one has ever come up with any proof. Seems you've found it  :'(

They are nothing significant, mainly dialogue scenes but it will be interesting to see whether they add anything to the film.

i did that DVD. have fun with it  :'(  The Scenes are Bonus only, as the Copy i had was really TOO bad to include into the full Movie.
