Sounds pretty good.  Anyone seen it?

I have this - bought the Optimum disc but haven't seen it.

I seem to remember Magnus being something of a fan though...

I´ve read the book! (probably seen the film in my early teens as well, was quite a MacLean-fan in those days, well well...)
I watched another film based on one of his books this summer, PUPPET ON A STRING starring swedish entertainer Sven-Bertil Taube as a typical eurospy-agent, pretty basic but has an breathtaking, and really looong, boatchase in Amsterdam canals, all the rest of the film is like a excuse for that...

Paul, yeah i know. Alistair MacLean was big in Sweden.
any other of the films based on his novels worth seeing again...? (Not counting WHERE EAGLES DARE, GUNS OF NAVARONE + the sequel).
Anyone remember how BEAR ISLAND, NIGHT WITHOUT END (if this is correct english title?), WHEN EIGTH BELLS TOLL etc. stand as films. Seem to recall that the western with Charles Bronson, BREAKHEART PASS, was pretty good and had a great fightscene on top of a train... Must have been at least 15 years since i last saw any of these....

If you want to see the film, certainly pick up the Optimum disc, it looks STUNNING! Not a hint of damage and only the lightest grain:

Thought the film was okay at best, doesn't compare well with the book, but the car chase is certainly worth the price of admission:

For more MacLean I also recommend When Eight Bells Toll - a much better film, written by MacLean himself.
