Footprints / Le Orme (Luigi Bazzoni, 1975)
« on: 27 Dec 2007 - 22:02 »

How come a film as intriguing and beautiful as Footprints hasn't been released on dvd yet? Such as shame. Personally, I think it's a small masterpiece of Italian genre cinema. Granted, a dvd might be a hard sell from an exploitation point of view, but with the films stellar reputation among euro fans and a cast featuring Florinda Bolkan, Nicoletta Elmi, Evelyn Stewart and Klaus Kinski (even though the latter two are reduced to cameos), surely it would shift a few copies?
I really like the score by Piovani. Slightly reminiscent of his score to Il Profumo Della Signora In Nero and I'd certainly buy the soundtrack if it was released on CD. Have you ever considered this for Fin De Si├Ęcle Magnus?

This film is a classic, watched it again the other day via an upgraded lbx Scandanavian copy(thanks Jonny) and it's still as good as the first time i saw it.
The Piovani score always reminds me of his excellent FLAVIA soundtrack,a very strong piece of music.

Is it true that Redemption had plans to release this on VHS?  It is such a pity that this has not surfaced on DVD, Bazzoni's gialli are excellent.

Yes, it's true. It was to be part of a new package of titles, but sadly it fell through.

I thought I wasn't imagining it, pity the release fell through.

A shame it did,i could see this appealing to a lot more people than just exploitation fans.

Well, aren't Redemption supposed to release REVELATIONS OF A PSYCHIATRIST at some point? If so, then maybe there's a small chance of them finally releasing FOOTPRINTS as well? Of course, I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting for that to happen as they are probably more concerned with putting out some more atrocious sinful nun crap or rereleasing some Jean Rollin films for the umpteenth time. Still, one can hope...

There is zero chance of them releasing FOOTPRINTS as they would have to license it. They own certain rights outright for REVELATIONS.

Marc, why did the release fall through? I'm currently negotiating with the same licensor and Footprints is of course one of the titles we're interested in...

This was many years ago - the master was fullscreen and it wasn't worth paying for a new master for the small UK market.

Magnus, it would be very cool if you could release this one.  Fingers crossed.
