I think that Romanzo criminale has a great success because the story behind is good... as only a true story can be

The story of italy in the 70's is very interesting also today; italy was one of the most important 'centers of the world' for many many things

the eyes of the world saw what happened in italy, and Banda della Magliana had a role in almost all the most important situations happened in italy about 1975/85, so the story of Banda della Magliana is also the most interesting story about italy in the last century out of WWII

70's in italy were very dark years... full of mistery, violence, danger, a lot of persons killed for nothing

but story of italy today is really stupid, nothing interesting to tell, so also directors watch in the past...

Italy is certainly an interesting place - which is one of the reasons why I love Italian cinema so much. I thought that ROMANZO CRIMINALE was far better than FATTI DELLA BANDA DELLA MAGLIANA (2005), which also dealt with the 'Banda della Magliana' but had far too much talking in it for my liking.

Watched this beauty last night. Didn't realise it was so long, but an enjoyable ride all the same!

These are the very same words that Francesco Montanari, a.k.a. il Libanese, told me at the meeting last saturday...  :P

There's a TV series, I saw an advert on French TV for it!

Picked this up for a fiver recently despite the cringe-inducing comments from so called 'critics' comparing it to Goodfellas and Robert de Niro's mob films.  What short-sighted plums these people are.

Watched it a couple of days ago.  What a treat it was.  Fantastic.  Very impressed.  Shootings, beatings, kidnappings, political assassinations, sleazy prostitutes etc all the classic elements are here.  I wonder how it would have turned out if they had made an '18' or equivalent classification film, no doubt it would have been a veritable orgy of sex and violence.  Now to get hold of the longer version.

Shame there isn't an English friendly version of the TV series.

My French is schoolboy at best, so it's not really an option.

I bought the UK DVD of this quite a while ago for £2.95 and wasn't expecting much.  I was blown away by the film and loved the script, the acting, the cinematography, the score and the attention to period detail.  It is now one of my favourite films and I would say one of the finest examples of modern cinema that I've seen.

last december was out on italian sky channel the second (and last) Romanzo Criminale tv-serie

perhaps not great as the first serie but very very good the same

i think it's very strange that the first serie is available on french language/options (obviously also french dvd-box is better than italian dvd-box  :-*) and not in english, even if serie dialogues are almost all in roman slang, very difficult to translate...  :-\

i think that if you liked the movie you will love this serie when it will be out with english options...

Since 2006 Aarron. I've watched films in French before, but I'd prefer to have some sort of English so I get 100% out of what I'm watching and don't need to concentrate like crazy.  :'(
