  • I've some extremely distressing news

As far I can tell it's a dvd of Cunha's Frankenstein's Daughter using Lady Frankenstein artwork...
Sinisterfilm's site confirms this.
Or did someone make a serious mistake?

Well spotted!

Seems it's not just Kult Video that are confused because Videociak have it listed as well...

Fux had a blast watching the film for the first time in years and offered some funny anecdotes

Yeah, seen this, too...he seemed to be such a friendly and mellow individual, R.I.P. Herbert! ;)

Yes it's definitely not the Welles film... unfortunately...

That link has the cast and credits for the 1958 film but also lists it as color, so there is inconsistancy in the listing itself.
Seems hard to imagine it's the Rosalba Neri / Mel Welles flick at this point.

In regards to the full length version, ZDD put together a ratty comp that mixes the footage from the German TV print, some from the Swedish VHS and a few bits from the New World Corman edit that came out on Embasy.  They 16 x 9 the full screen inserts which squashes them and the image is bad on these brief sections, but it does seem to cobble together the 'director's cut '.
Corman kept all the nudity and gore intact but pruned reems of expository footage ( and character motivation ) and it the process made Welles vision seems choppy and semi incoherent.
The uncut version is a far better film, hands down.

Great news,if it's anything like their SE of HUNCHBACK then we're in for a real treat.

Just got sent a lbx Italian tv version which was a bit of letdown with the second half looking like it had been taken from a bad ntsc source.

Nice one!
I guess that will be the version that aired on German tv?
I noticed a (great sounding) English track was also prepared for that one.
Bits of it pop up in the docu that was also broadcast.

I think their release will have 3 different versions of the film.

Finally getting the official treatment from Shout Factory (hopefully it will be the uncut version): Cliff MacMillan's reply on the Home Theater Forum

Nice. Think I'll be snapping this up when it hits retailers. Any news on whether it will be completely uncut?

Great news.
I hope this will be at least as complete as the German tv version...or should we maybe just expect the US version?
