I'd love to see a label such as Camera Obscura releasing this one. If the negatives or IP can't be located then I suppose an actual print would do.

Wasn't the main problem with Giallo a Venezia that the rights holder wants a small fortune? I could be wrong but I think it was the cost of licensing the title that has put many companies off and that's before they've seen any surviving materials.

A long time ago I talked to someone involved with Sazuma (the predecessor of CO, if you will) and he mentioned they were interested in this title. However, another company, which I shall not name here, already had their hands on it somehow, just not doing anything with it. Might have been rumours, but back then I imagined a release would be just around the corner. Lo and behold, 10 years later and still nothing in sight so far.

Must be a combination of available materials and licensing costs or clearance, after all GIALLO is a notorious movie that I've seen popping up time and again on many people's wish lists. Isn't it also one of the last gory films of that era that is still MIA?

I believe Mya once had it on their upcoming list, but they may not have investigated the materials yet and who knows if they even had the rights.

This has never been a problem for them  :-\

No discussion on the German Blu-ray/DVD release? Anyone have it?

Not yet, but I know Walter Olsen of Scorpion is handling this one for Cod Red and has just rejected the green tinted master the owners provided and there will be a new scan done.

Something tells me it may surpass what's on the German disc.

I asked the producer (Gabriele Crisante) about this one around 10 years ago whilst in Rome, and he said he didn't expect this to ever see the light of day again. A mystery..

Someone posted a couple of screenshots on Facebook the other day, not sure what to make of them though...

I'm going to hold off until a review comes through.

Not a big X-rated fan here, so as much as I am looking forward to this release I will do the same. Allegedly the 35mm print used for this release was found in a dental clinic in Portugal. Not sure if it was meant as a joke (anyone remember the Severin ballyhoo for BEAST IN SPACE?) but that's what the label boss had to say about his source material.

After so many years in oblivion I had also hoped that Bethmann would come up with some more substantial extras for this much wanted and highly controversial title. Couldn't care less about what some dubbing artists have to say about their recent work on this film. Isn't Jeff Blynn running a restaurant in Rome? I am pretty sure X-rated didn't even bother to check if there are production people available for some proper bonus. This film surely would have deserved it.

I was going to buy it but apparently Walt Olsen rejected the master and is getting a new scan done for the Code Red release.

I also have one of the German Blu rays on order. Cuts out all the usual "will Code Red ship to Europe this time?" shenanigans. Likewise will post some feedback when it arrives but whatever it looks like, as long as the main gore scenes aren't censored, it'll still be a vast improvement to what's about there at the moment.

Not that much of a problem any more really as they seem to go to Diabolik and/or Screen Archives in good time nowadays, especially Diabolik, seem to get most of the new ones.

I going to wait, just to see what one is the best to get, I do like them X-Rated mediabooks though  ;D
