The Japanese tape i have of EVEN ANGELS EAT BEANS is called CHARLESTON, but it is not the Bud Spencer caper movie, it is the one with Spencer and Gemma.

hope this makes sense.

this film is amazing! probably the best italian slapstick-comedy i´ve seen (and silly as i am i have seen a few...). i saw mostly because of Ricky Bruch, fun with the old discus-thrower in a comedy, but he doesn´t make to much of an impression, an ok Bud Spencer type of role and delivery, no, this is Gemma´s film, i´ve never seen him in such a shape! His movements and screen presence is just great, i wouldn´t say in same league as Buster Keaton, but not to many miles away either. The film is a bit long, the story not to special, but Gemma saves the day, not a unexciting moment when he is around. I like him otherwise as well, but he must have been in an extraordinary good mood for this one...
and in the opening scene we have mister Beast in heat himself, Salvatore Baccaro!

I received this today, and the opening titles says CHARLESTON.

Nice looking anamorphic widescreen transfer and English or Italian audio.

Yes but it doesn't clarify why there are two films called Charleston and two films called Even Angels Eat Beans - and they're not the same films..

I Know, so end of the day we would be taking pot luck on what the title is half the time if a nice tape come up for auction or something...
