Word to the wise: the UK disc on Prism (or the earlier Metrodome release) is out of print. If you've not got one, get it before the eBayers start to demand ridiculous prices.

Since this new French DVD is 1.85:1 and anamorphic I don't see why anyone should buy the inferior OOP UK disc...  :D

This is a definate buy for me though i've a feeling there'll be burnt in French subs on the English track as with all the other Neo Publishing releases including their excellent digipack of Reeves' WITCHFINDER GENERAL,should be a very nice transfer though knowing Neo.
I've also got the Italian disc on Gargoyle/Millenium Storm(as IL KILLER DI SATANA)which has the Italian language track and a trailer, picture quality is ok but as it's such a cool film a double-dip is in order.

Probably because the UK disc was dirt cheap, mate.

I love this film and have done even before I ever actually saw it. As a kid I was obsessed with a still of it in the 'Pictorial History of Horror Movies' book, published by Hamlyn. The picture in question was a shot of Boris burnt to death on his kitchen floor. It's a disturbing little film with a great non-monster performance by Boris. I used to live in the block where the swimming pool scene was filmed.

I wonder why this wasn't included on AB's TIGON set since there was significant coverage on the film in the Michael Reeves doc on the WITCHFINDER GENERAL disc (itself a port from the already existing UK release on another label).

Wasn't the UK release anamorphic?

Yes it's being prepared for release by Dark Sky. Here's something from Fangoria about an interview with David Gregory:

"In addition, Gregory reveals that he “just did a commentary yesterday for Michael Reeves’ THE SHE BEAST with [actor] Ian Ogilvy, [producer] Paul Maslansky and amazingly, Barbara Steele. Now, it has to be said that Barbara didn’t want to come, because she had absolutely no memory of the film and thought it was utter rubbish when she watched it. However, we persuaded her to come along to chime in about the Italian industry at the time and her status as a horror star etc., so that was fun.”
