Saw this [then] contemporary horror effort from Hammer the other evening. It's a thoroughly engaging affair, though there are obvious parallels with William Wyler's THE COLLECTOR, which was released the same year.

Stefanie Powers plays Patricia Carroll; a pretty young woman who has decided to pay a visit to the mother of her dead fiancee, much to the chagrin of her current beau. When Patricia arrives at the remote country home of Mrs Trefoile it becomes evident that her host isn't the full ticket and--as she reluctantly agrees to stay another day—soon realises that Trefoile is a total religious fanatic. Pushed to the point at which she wants to leave, Patricia frog-marched at gunpoint to the attic where she is incarcerated,  and will remain until she is no longer impure.

DIE! DIE! MY DARLING! Features many of the cliches associated with similar films but there's enough charm, directorial flair and hammy acting to engage the viewer right through to the end.
"Allow me to explain. Your mother is a whore, your father is a damn thief, and your grandfather is a notorious fag... and as for your sister..." - Yodlaf Peterson
