Can anyone here shed some light on this utterly demented werewolf film? I've just finished doing a fansub for it:

http://rapidshare.com/files/97056628/La.Croce.Dalle.Sette.Pietre.VHSRip.XViD-CG.rar.html

I'd never heard of this film until I was asked to do the subs. What I discovered was something akin to the 'finest' moments of a Bruno Mattei film, similar in it's all-round ineptness to 'Zombie: Creeping Flesh/Virus. The similarities to John Landis' 'An American Werewolf in London' are also quite striking. Parts of it play out like a comedy - mostly the Neapolitan asides that bookend the more serious scenes - but for the most part this plays out like a straight-up horror film.

The scenes with Gordon Mitchell mugging at the camera remind me of poor Donald O'Brian who came across equally as senile (at deaths door) in D'amato's 'Frankenstein 2000'. I'm surprised to read that he didn't pass on untill 2003!

I'm still not sure what on earth the satanic orgy scene was all about?

The soundtrack is also something else - it sounds like a group of kids got together with some pots and pans and just went at it! The director, who also stars/wrote/produces and provided the (lack of) special effects probably had hand in that as well as it bears the familiar marks of his lack of talent. It also reminded me a lot of Pink Floyd's Animals LP (They love Floyd in Italy...). Worrying... ;)

Here's a link to an imdb review by someone called Squonkmatic which sums it up a lot better than I can...

Ripe for rediscovery, someone should get this out there!

Its pretty bad.  There's an English dub available.  The Japanese tape is fogged.  I've only seen the Dutch tape which was fullscreen and very noisy.

Absolutely terrible film but I mean that as a compliment! It's completely demented and doesn't make any sense but I haven't had so much fun with a film since I watched TROLL 2!

Everyone should see this film! Seriously!  :-\
