Yeah, I picked the unsubbed Italian DVD last year in record store in Rome, just to have it to complete my Argento collection (which in fairness is far from complete, I have nothing past Opera). I actually did sit down and watch it and despite watching a film in another language without subs is something of a mission, I thought Le Cinque Giornate was a pretty good film, full of style and invention. I would guess that Argento was inspired a little by A Clockwork Orange, the film does have the same kind of loose freewheeling engery as the first half of Kubrick's film. Why this one never still remains missing-in-action is a mystery - the idea that the film is too parochial doesn't convince me - I mean, international audiences don't have a problem with Visconti's The Leopard....
