Stock footage car chases in Poliziesco movies
« on: 02 Apr 2008 - 16:17 »

I just realised that some of the car chase scenes in THE VIOLENT PROFESSIONALS and ALMOST HUMAN are identical - is this common?

I rember seeing this in a few movies, usually thinking that its just one of two insert shots, but the two movies you mentioned definately share alot.
I think this is common in Italian movies of the 70's and especially 80's. I've seen shits taken from Indian Jones and all sorts.

I think some of that car chase is in 'Roma a mano armata' too, the bit where the car crashes through the stack of crates that are on fire...

There's also a film that has a scene where a car drives along on a moving train, can't think of the title off hand but I'm sure that's been used a couple of times too.

I think you mean the one in COLT 38 SPECIAL SQUAD. That was also used in THE NEW GODFATHERS. Which also steals car chase footage from THE SICILIAN CONNECTION.

That's the one! Pretty nifty stunt driving too!

COP IN DRAG starring Tomas Milian should be mentioned as well. Its opening uses footage from MILANO VIOLENTA and ROMA A MANO ARMATA and a voice-over about how Milian's character became a cop can be heard. Its an exciting opening but I wish the rest of the movie was that good :)

The chase from ITALIA A MANO ARMATA(Special Cop in Action) where the police car drives off the jetty into the lake was re-used in Alfonso Brescia's LA TUA VITA PER MIL FIGLIO.

Seems that Brescia was an expert in recycling car chase footage lol and let's not forget the great Bruno Mattei. The car chase footage in his COP GAME was originally shot by Antonio Margheriti for THE ARK OF SON GOD.

I'm retty sure that one of the crashes seen in VIOLENT PROFFESIONALS was taken from HIGH CRIME, too.

Weird - I just posted the same thing at almost the exact same time on a Dutch forum !

Went at 16x speed through Rome Armed to the Teeth, Violent Professionals and Almost Human this afternoon, and all three share the same chase with the flaming cardboard boxes - at 16x speed it looks spectacular  :-\

Wim, you should ask Lenzi about this when you interview him. 'Violent Professionals' seems to be the earliest of these movies yet Lenzi used the footage in two of his movies of a later vintage. Be interesting to hear what he has to say about it and the reasons why the footage was recycled.

In Eaten Alive! - didn't Lenzi use parts of Mountain of the Cannibal God ? Sure likes to quote Martino apparently.

I think that one of the car crash shots from VIOLENT PROFESSIONALS was later used in SILENT ACTION as well.
