One of the strangest Blu Ray releases, I was so annoyed when I first got it and saw how waxy everything looked, but luckily theres an extra that lets you add film grain, yet theres still less detail than the original Koch disc..

Koch DVD

Blu-Ray

Blu-Ray- Film grain added as an extra

An extra that lets you add film grain???

The film grain isn't an extra that is activated or not, what the disc does feature is 2 different transfers of the film, one with major DNR applied (which made it have an annoying "waxy" look, killing pretty much all detail on display) and another transfer, unfiltered, one with the film grain intact, which looks pretty good (I don't know what setup you used, but there's no way this second version has less detail than the Koch DVD; I didn't compare them side by side, but I own both, and this second version on the BD is easily superior to the transfer on the DVD).

Its hidden deep in the extras, I didn't even know I could change it until read it in that article..

Just looking at them side by side you can see from the blu-ray is sharper ofcourse, but the shadow on his clothes covers some of the detail that you can see on the DVD, its not bad at all though..

Koch Media will release it on blu-ray on 4th of December.

I received this yesterday, and it doesn't work. Anyone else had problems with it?

Just watched Silver Saddle (the Koch Blu) & really enjoyed it - I didn't even find the kid too annoying, which is very rare for me  :-\ Geoffrey Lewis rules  ::)
I wish that I had a Blu Ray drive on my PC, I'd love to rip that soundtrack.

Yeah, but I've already paid for the blu, & it has the full soundtrack as an extra, so if I could rip it, I wouldn't need to pay for the CD  :-\

I didn't even realise it had it on there! I got the CD before I got the Blu.
