You should give SNATCH a go Michael, it's not that bad at all. It's worth the price of admission just for Alan Ford as Brick Top - "Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible c u n t... me."

The trailer actually made me feel sick, why make a Holmes film if it is just going to be an action-fest, there are plenty of other heroes that could do that.

Anyone remember YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES? That had more action/adventure than your usual Holmes yarn.

Looks like it hasn't turned out that well if these claims are true.

I'm not sure what you mean mate? You saying the film is going to be rubbish because a rumour about Brad Pitt being in it turns out to be false?

No, what i mean is, has it turned out shit and they're now trying to do something about it.

Brad Pitt wouldn't sway me in either direction to watch a film or not.

Could be, though most films have a few re-shoots. Just that the press like to twist it and make out the film is in trouble because of it.

I'm not that excited about the film anyway, I'll give it a look purely because of Downey Jnr though.

Same here...he's often the best thing about otherwise average films. I saw THE SOLOIST on a flight home from holiday and he was great in that, but the rest of the film was just really frustrating, like a bad TV movie with loads of money thrown at it to make it look good.

I liked the HOLMES trailer but we'll see...

I went to see this last night and thought it was great fun. Intriguing storyline (utter bollocks but hugely enjoyable), Downey Jr is great (as is his English accent), great support from Jude Law (always better as a sidekick than a leading man, anyway) and Mark Strong. Will say that Rachel McAdams and Kelly Reilly were underused though. Great Morricone-esque score by Hans Zimmer too. Well worth checking out.

I enjoyed it. Lots of energy and action.  Usually don't think of Holmes as action figure in films with lots of explosions and martial arts, but good fun nonetheless.  Implausible but amusing plot.  Score, as Paul noted, was very Morricone-esque.  Reminded me of INVESTIGATION OF A CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION.
