Italian are notorious for wanting large clearance fees, so be wary indeed. Also, suitable masters may not exist for tome of these movies so you may find you will have to do some substitutions. If I can help, let me know.

Fortunately, I can compose '70s-style instrumental funk in my sleep, so that will keep music costs down.

That's a wonderful attribute to have, Mike.  :-\

...and a good use of the time you spend sleeping.  :-*

Still haven't uploaded frame caps from my interview with Chris Mitchum in Florida, but in the meantime, here are some screen grabs from Fred Williamson's intvw for the doc out on the West Coast -- shot last week by Mike A. Martinez. This is probably the last movie-star intvw for the doc (unless others just fall in our lap; it's happened before). Time to consider production wrapped...

Great news - means we're closer to seeing it!

Really can't wait to see this, Mike.  :-X

Yeah, he accidentally got it super-glued between his fingers 15 years ago!

His interview for 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS was great fun so I'm sure this one will be great too. Can you please tell us which movies he discusses in your interview Mike?

Can you please tell us which movies he discusses in your interview Mike?

His Italian-financed and Italian-set crime movies:

CRAZY JOE
THREE TOUGH GUYS
MR. MEAN
WOODEN OVERCOAT
BLACK COBRAS 1--4

I know there were several more (DEADLY IMPACT, etc), but we mostly stuck to the above eight films.

I'd love to hear what he has to say about the BLACK COBRAS... but i guess those parts won't be included cause they are not 70s films right?

We'll see. Near the end of the doc, I'll be talking about what became of the Italian Crime Film as the 1970s rolled over into the 1980s, and it may be appropriate there to include a couple of soundbites about the BLACK COBRA series.

That's a good idea. Can't wait! Hopefully the doc will get a DVD release!

Wow! I didn't realise MR.MEAN was an Italian production.

Cheers Mike :P

It's not, of course (although it was shot with an Italian crew and borrowed equipment from INGLORIOUS BASTARDS). That is the movie I was qualifying as "Italian-set," as it was shot in Rome.  :'(
