I watched this tonight - didn't have great expectations as I was overly impressed with Hayers' gialloesque ASSAULT. Anyway, I thought I'd give this one a go - it's a hard disc to track down, as the company that released it are selling it exclusively through their website but I managed to find one on eBay.
The film follows the plight of a family who's young daughter has been murdered by a sex offender. The chief suspect in the case has been released, due to a lacak of evidence, so the girl's father, his elder son and the father of another victim unite with a plan for retribution. Laying in wait, the trio pounce and abduct the suspect and relocate him to the cellar of the pub where two of them work. What follows is a battle of wits and a coming to terms with acts of brutality none knew they were capable of.
To say any more would do the film a real disservice. Suffice to say, it's an impeccably crafted film that really builds a frenzied level of suspense, as those involved in the kidnapping polt begin to question their actions and the police begin to close in.
While it's not on the same par as Sidney Lumet's similarly-themed THE OFFENCE, this is a cracking thriller that stands as a savage critique of mob justice.
