about dylan dog-dead of night:
i have read comments about it on imdb and i think its interesting to notice (though not really surprising)
that the positive reviews are coming from the usa, and the negative from europe
i agree quite with the negative opinions..and actually to see the trailer was enough!
brandon ruth is terrible in the role..a "clean-cut" prettyboy with no real personality, looking to juvenile, playing his role completely straight
aside of that his so called "acting" is a bad joke
New Orleans is the new location! wow that is "cool"..
"horror" or something similar is nowhere to find, but instead "action-fantasy"(!) in the vein of "Underworld" or something
(Imdb Reviewers who like this film have mentioned what similar examples "could appeal" well i didnt find anywhere "dellamorte dellamore" among the "Pro"s..)
i was surprised to find some hyper-cheap Groucho "references"...which seemd to me even more ludicrous considering this entire concept of the film which is "alien" to me...did they really think these "links" will make the fans happy ? No-its even more pathetic!
the people who dont know the comic and "like"(!) this film, dont care anyway if its "faithfull" to the comic or not
so why is it called then "Dylan Dog" anyway?
the film could also be called instead "Dylan Hotdog", "Dylan Trzesniewski" ,etc.. it doesnt matter as they cannot anyway
relate to the comic and therefore it doesnt make a single bit difference-the goal is accomplished that they "like" this film
to those who are familiar and fans of the comic-well its quite the contrary, a dreadfull degeneration which happens
when a great concept is "filtered"(well the name remained and the car of dylan dog) through the hands of
"sub-mediocrity" for the sake of some quick bucks to tiziano sclavi (wasnt he aware or didnt he care about this
??), it doesnt make sense at all:the true fans can only shake their heads about this "PG-13" crap (the target audience!..) and the others..well..i said it allready.
It is also highly doubtfull that this film will "invite" the "Pro´s" to "explore" the dylan dog comics, and even IF so they
would find something completely different with the same
name "attached" to it..the partial weakness of dylan dog..the former alcoholic the "mystery" surrounding his parents, , the clever reference to movies, literature, art,etc..would be something "new" to them..( a further reason is that the english language version of the comics aren´t that wide-spread and only few issues were translated to my knowledge...lol)
how can it be that this crap gets produced while michele soavi cant make another "horror" movie ? talking about "fairness" and money well spent..
is it possible that a good ratio of " strong money-weak ideals" was there? it would be really interesting to know how this "deal" went thru..every sane person would like to know an explanation (unless paid by money to say nothing)
on a side note: in the 90s there was even a "Dylan Dog" horror movie festival, (mentioned also by Fangoria in its time..a pity it died out)
I imagine how it would be the festival while THIS film is screened...true horror!
