This is one of my favorite Italian crime/sleaze movies and thought it needed a thread of its own! Here are some thoughts on the film, copied from my blog. Just received a good-looking Spanish letterboxed print and dubbing it to English. The English-speaking print is fullscreen and has Greek subs, new one will be subtitle-free and 16:9!

Ovidio Mainardi (Joe Dallesandro) and his 2 friends work together at a computer company. Gradually they start going insane beacuse of the routine everyday life within a rotten society and the effect of computers. Their frustrations and oppression they have gone though make them start killing random people, including a prostitute and her pimp, a taxi driver and eventually Ovidio's own wife. This is a really demented film but incredibly well-made and original. The social commentary really works in this film. The three young men seem to be killing random people for no reason although they certainly have a motive. SAVAGE THREE describes a situation that rarely happens in real life but anything is possible right? There is plenty of violence and gore here but there seems to be a good excuse for all this mayhem to take place so in my opinion it is fully justified. Dallesandro does a PERFECT job as the disturbed Ovidio and proves his critis wrong. He can really act and does great particularly in sleazy roles. Enrico Maria Salerno (RANSOM, NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS, also brother of the director) is great as expected. The upbeat, progressive hard rock score by Franco Campanino (THE CLIMBER) is a winner. I'm not sure as if SAVAGE THREE can be categorized as a standard Italian crime film as it avoids the expected bank robberies and car-chases, but it will definitely appeal to fans of the genre, specially to the ones with a taste for sleaze.

Never seen this. Sounds great. Anything with Dallesandro is always worth a look, IMO. Let me know when your new version is ready... will be up for one of those.

Subtitle-free and 16:9? That's great news! I absolutely love this film.

Its from Spanish VHS (as FANGO CALIENTE/FURIA HOMICIDA). If it was from TV it would look even better of course. But still its a huge improvement over the Greek fullscreen print most of us here have...I have finished dubbing it and will enhance it for 16:9 playback.

Mmm... Martine Brochard looks really nice with this hairstyle, I must say! Pretty under-appreciated actress (she is very rarely mentioned) but I consider her very talented and have liked her in everything I've seen her in.

Gianfranco De Grassi works now in a bookshop in Rome.
He's a nice guy, very different from the kind of characters he used to play in movies!  ;D

I love this guy! He could have done much more back in the day with such a special face. He is really great in SAVAGE THREE and of course NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS.

Did you recognise him in Vari's RITORNANO QUELLI DELLA CALIBRO.38 during the scenes in the restaurant?

Ah, haven't really been able to watch the whole film yet due to bad quality of the print! We really have to find a good-looking version of that!

I know a cut version was broadcast on Italian TV, but does anyone know what's missing?
