Libido (Ernesto Gastaldi & Vittorio Salerno, 1965)

Any thoughts on this solid psychological thriller?

The version I saw was the Luminous Film & Video Works version with added English subtitles. However, the transfer I saw was badly cropped on all four sides. Is there another, better framed version out there?

The cropping of the opening credits, in particular, is really bad! Thankfully, the cropping does not noticably remove too much picture information for the rest of the film.

Good movie, with great performances from Giancarlo Gianinni and the underrated Dominique Boschero.

Gialloboy has an original USA released VHS on the Mondial label, no idea what the print is like though I suspect it might be an Italian language release and may even be the source for the Luminous version?

I have read on the internet that this release is Italian language. I too was wondering if this was the source for the Luminous version.

I have an excellent print from the original beta master (in Italian, naturally).

Okay, so it goes like this. I had the original Beta master copied to VHS in a lab some years ago. I then only last year burned the VHS to DVD. That said, I am just in the process of getting a new PC system for benchmarking jobs freelance wise. What software would I use to get a DVD grab for optimum quality as my current DVD player in the PC is not that great visually? What is the best way to post? Otherwise, I'd be delighted to.

Ernesto Gastaldi is selling this and three more of his films (in Italian) on his website http://www.ernesto-gastaldi.com/acquisti.htm.

I'll chime in the with quality on Lonely Violent Beach when it arrives.

LIBIDO from Ernesto is the same as the one from Luminous, full frame, Italian language with English subs.

While Libido might be the same quality as the LFVW version,  the italian only print of Long Cold Beach (a.k.a. Lonely Violent Beach) is excellent. Widescreen, great sound etc.

I don't know the running time (don't pay attention), but this print is much better than the copies I've seen prior.

Too bad these haven't been released on dvd.
