Author Topic: extreme/OTT stuff in Euro films you would never see in American cinema?  (Read 42963 times)

Name a few examples? Now quoting myself from another thread here...

Quote
Perhaps I should have referred to new American movies (excluding HOSTEL 2 which has a really disturbing child murder) then as some of the 70s exploitation ones had absolutely no problem with the most extreme and UN-PC stuff. Bronson vehicle MESSENGER OF DEATH also featured a child murder scene although there was no actual shot of the kids getting shot and dying, just a glimpse of the killer. Let's start a new thread on this Commissario?

Demonic rape-murder with a crowbar in PATRICK STILL LIVES a loose sequel to the Australian original.
Castration followed by consumption of extremities in Lenzi's CANNIBAL FEROX
Anything in CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST
Animal cruelty in italian movies
Naschy allowing himself to be bitten by live rats for real in HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE.

Oh, the gunning down of children in the spanish movie WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? Even though they were crazy, still it was quite a strong scene.

Most definitely the dinner scene in GESTAPO'S LAST ORGY. One of the most repellant sequences imagineable.
The scene of Salvatore Baccaro raping and chewing on womens private regions in close up was pretty nasty in the laughably bad SS HELL CAMP.

I just remembered one only it's not Euro. I have a viciously depressing japanese horror film entitled SHURA (1970) that features a nasty child murder near the end. This movie was banned in Japan for a time.

CALIGULA, THE UNTOLD STORY has a gruesome scene where David Brandon bashes a little baby against a wall.

Soldiers throw a baby into the air and shoot it down (in a very lazy fashion) in Luigi Batzella's goofily shot SS HELL CAMP.

You are damn right about these- I would add the scene from VIOLENT ROME (1975) that Companero mentioned in the other thread: John Steiner shooting at defenseless children with a machine gun! And how about a woman getting fatally beaten up in Lenzi's ONE JUST MAN? Did the guy have misogynistic tendencies or am I wrong? :D Also remember his MANGIATI VIVI (Paola Senatore scenes) or CANNIBAL FEROX (two guys calling a woman "twat" then brutally beating her, even kicking her in the face)!

What about Fulci's THE NEW YORK RIPPER? This film would probably get an X rating if it was released in the States today! What about his CAT IN THE BRAIN/NIGHTMARE CONCERT where a child gets decapitated by chainsaw for no reason? Or perhaps the scene where that woman gets repeatedly beaten in the face until her eyeball pops out? ;)

How about this?

Mario Siciliano's ROLF THE LAST MERCENARY (1983)

Don't think I have ever seen anything that could beat this!

:-\ :-\ :-\ :-\That's one of the gooniest clips I've seen! Where can you buy this? The subs are thai. NEW YORK RIPPER is quite the nasty movie. I have some seen some Japanese and a couple of HK horrors that put most of the italian stuff to shame, though.

Sadly there is no official DVD release of ROLF, just old VHS tapes, etc. The subs on that trailer (which I edited myself) are Greek, not Thai! I recommend this movie highly! The same director had made SKIN 'EM ALIVE, a 1978 movie where mercenaries were exterminating black people in an African village for no apparent reason. I know what you mean about the Asian extremities, they put the Italian stuff to shame indeed, they just don't have that unique look and feel that the Italian films had.

Speaking of Asian atrocities, I am sure you have seen BLACK SUN: THE NANKING MASSACRE- that was pretty nasty! :)

Is GLO really bad, i'm not a fan of exploitation but i love war films. So the mix of cult and war appeals to me. How bad is this scene? Will i feel i need to wash my shame afterwards?

Dig that groove baby.

The film is not bad at all! Actually it is very well-made and stylish for the Nazi exploitation genre standards. The scene is considered to be very offensive (as it depicts a bunch of SS officers eating a Jewish unborn fetus) but it always depends on your point of view I guess. It is not as graphic as it sounds though. Personally, I had no problem with it- I'd rather not take stuff like that too seriously.

The font used looks like thai. I have numerous thai posters and the subs looked similar. Yes, I have BLACK SUN but the first movie MEN BEHIND THE SUN is a little bit worse.

Moving on to Mattei stuff, what do you think about this scene here?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80bdb74pXBc

Its the famous "shit fight" scene from VIOLENCE IN A WOMEN'S PRISON starring Laura Gemser.

And what about this outrageous piece of dialogue that can be heard in the opening sequence of the unbelievably offensive (well, for most people) WOMEN'S CAMP 119 aka SS EXTERMINATION CAMP?

“Lesbians, communists, pig-whores, you’ll wipe the asses of every one of us until you turn purple with fatigue! You’ll take your meals with the dogs; our dogs are corporals and as such are your direct superiors…”

Hard to beat isn't it?

I have to agree with you, Lefteris!

As for another Italian exploitation movie that would not secure North American remake rights, what about the Brazilian edit of Giallo a Venezia with h/c porn? And yes my friend, it should be coming to you on the shiny disc soon!

And on that note, what about Polselli's Oscenita?

Yeah have to agree or some of the more extreme scenes in his 'Rivelazioni di uno psichiatra sul mondo perverso del sesso'  :-\
Even though it has lost some of its impact on me over the years i remember being shocked when i first saw the uncut version of D'amato's Emanuelle in America back in the mid 90's,even more so as i saw it via a nth gen dupe of the Venezualan tape which added to its air of mystery.
