I've been seeing some big posters for this in town and I was looking forward to seeing it, even more so now that I found out Nicolas Winding Refn directed it.  Looks pretty good and it's got Super Hans in it!

Was talking on the phone to Jonny about this only an hour ago: it's released on Friday (13th) and I'm really looking forward to it. The last trailer I saw really accentuates the surrealism and theatricality of the film and is scored to the Pet Shop Boys' "It's A Sin". EDIT - just seen that it's this trailer that Martin has linked. The previous trailer invited CLOCKWORK ORANGE comparisons with its use of Beethoven.

BTW – Refn must be a fan of Eurocult films. In his film BLEEDER a couple of the characters debate which is the quintessential Franco Nero film!

I've been in touch a lot with Charlie Bronson recently... he wrote an amazing piece for my magazine on his life in a cage for the last 35 years. Going to the film's premiere... can't wait!

I'm editor of Wonderland... it's a fashion/film/art/music glossy. I make sure we cover "interesting" film personalities and releases!

Just saw this very interesting piece of info on Wikipedia:

Bronson remains a "Category A" prisoner in Wakefield High-Security Prison where he is still in solitary confinement. Bronson was due for a parole hearing in September 2008, aided by the fact he has shown no sign of violence for the past seven years, but this was postponed as his lawyer objected to a one-hour parole interview, requesting a full day to deal with Bronson's case. The parole hearing is now due to take place on 11 March 2009.

If he's granted parole, I hope he likes the film, for Refn's sake  :-\

Didn't he go in for some silly minor offence and then ended up having years added to his sentence because of all the trouble/fights he got into?

That's right, mate. He originally got sent down for a bungled post office robbery in 1970 (the sum was less than £27!) and has been in prison for most of the time since. He was released in 1988 and 1992 but both times he was arrested in a matter of days after coming out for attempting robberies and sent back inside.

He has affiliates of Cherie Blair's legal team behind him now. I spoke to his friend who looks after his affairs and they're confident he will get out very soon.

I'm thinking about getting one of his books.  Which one did you read Tanzi?

I think it's the first one, it's just called BRONSON.

I read three from the same publisher, the other two were Lenny Mclean and Roy Shaw books.
