Okay, so I know I'm not the only person to be obsessed with this film (there are tons of HARD WAY nuts who have reviewed this film on the web as one of the most underrated crime films of all time), but I seem to be the only person on LLaL to dig the film. Is that right?

In any case, check out the beginning of this Amazon.co.uk review of the film. This is devotion to a movie!
------------------------------------------------------
A Tribute to The Hard Way and to Patrick McGoohan.

Since happening upon this film a few years ago - when I managed to win it at auction for just a few pounds - I have become so obsessed with it that I have made pilgrimages all over Ireland in order to pay homage to it, and to its leading actor, Patrick McGoohan. He is, sadly, no longer with us, along with many of the other fine actors who make up the supporting cast (Lee Van Cleef; Donal McCann; Peter Brayham; Joe Lynch). The re-release of the film on DVD, almost 30 years to the day of its original screening, is long overdue - but better late than never! It may have taken a very long time but the best things in life are always worth waiting for.

In writing this review, I have struggled long and hard to articulate my feelings into words. I hope that I do justice both to the film and to Patrick McGoohan. I believe that this appearance is arguably his finest, most understated and underrated acting role ever.

To be honest Mike I'd not heard of it until you started talking about it and after reading your review I'll defintely be picking up the Network DVD.

It sounds great, I'm looking forward to seeing it.  :'(

I was familiar with the film--remember the pre-cert on Precision, I think and it had a shamrock on the cover--I've never seen it. Will have to pick up a copy when I'm back in the swing of buying films. Mike's review certainly piqued my interest.

"But even if the main artwork for Network’s DVD had been a picture of Jerry Lewis in THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, this would still be one of the greatest, most sombre, artful crime films ever to grace a DVD collection."

In addition the ESCAPE Lee Van Kleef still was there a Jerry Leiws still on the back of the French DVD?   :-\

Wouldn't surprise me. :-*

Nice review, Mike. :P

I'll definitely be picking this up. :-X

Picked this up about a month ago mainly due to McGoohan/Van Cleef and the ENO soundtrack and was very very impressed ! Great film.
