Spaghettis are my least watched Italian genre film right now (of the four filones I collect/watch).  I go in cycles with these.

That said, if Franco Nero EVER plays a mountain man in a western, I would honor him accordingly.

Too bad Fulci & Nero never filmed the source material for Jeremiah Johnson (or even John Milius' original script). I could see them going all the way with the cannibalism/violence to men/nature.

What about ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST Jamie

You know, I purposely left it off. Not because I really dislike it or anything. It does have a good cast (Im a big Bronson fan) and many striking shots. But for some reason it's never had the impact on me like Leone's other movies. I think the locations are one reason, it seems almost 'too American' to me. I love American Westerns, and I love Leone movies, but in this case I don't find myself wanting to rewatch it over and over.

I kind of like it more for the 'set pieces' (for lack of a better term). Like the scene when Claudia is laying down on the bed and there's that shot from above, that is really beautiful. My all time favorite movie is GBU (well, and Diabolik too!) and I think Leone is a genius so I don't mean to say anything negative about the movie. I know a lot of people have it around the top of their lists. But for me, Id just rather pick any of his other Westerns before it.

Outside of the Argento visuals for Frank and Fabio Testi's stunts, I loathe this film.     

I appreciate what Leone did for filmmaking and the western and my own world-view but after seeing this movie, my opinion of the man collapsed.

I just watched "For a Few Dollars More", and I have to say that is by far my favorite Spaghetti.  In my mind that is everything a spaghetti should be.  Gian Maria Volonte is the greatest bad guy to ever slither across the screen.  Plus the coolness of Lee Van Cleef when he strikes the match on the back of Klaus Kinski, to light his pipe is awe inspiring.  Clint Eastwood is the weakest aspect of the whole film and he is far from weak.  I'd never really watched too many westerns for the simple fact that my grandfather watched a ton of American westerns, and I couldn't get into them.  However Spaghetti Westerns are a completely different genre.  With that said, I'm gonna watch Death Sentence and Taste for Killing today

I feel a little like a tresspasser here on this thread, I am a complete SW novice - I only have a handful, the well known ones, so I'm busy writing all these recommendations down. Besides the Leones, I love The Great Silence - its one of those films I tend to throw on for late night screenings... Another memorable film for me is a 1971 Spanish/British production called A Town Called Bastard, with Robert Shaw. Its no Django Kill, but its a strange weird film all the same...
