Lamberto Bava, I missed him
« on: 17 Jun 2009 - 14:39 »

Sunday night i was reading the French "Mad Movies" magazine and in a tiny article on a page it said "check out Mario Bava's Bay Of Blood at the blah blah cinema on Saturday, special midnight screening, introduced by the master's son Lamberto".

You can guess i was fuming when i discovered this!! Next time i hope lol!!!

Broonage, do you read this magazine often? What do you think of it?

I've been reading it since 1986, and I'm really disappointed by issues of the last 3-4 years (and by the DVDs as well).

Hi Zarith,

to be honest first time buying and reading it. I've looked at it a few times in the newsagent but never bought it until this month.
It seems like a good mag, i'm a regular of the Darkside/Is It Uncut..., so a nice change of scenery. But my French is so-so, it takes me a twice as long to read it than an English mag lol. Although it eems to cover a lot of mainstream stuff, which may get tedious for me.  :-*
I think i've got a couple of DVDs by them that i've bought 2nd-hand. Budget price, budget films usually.  ;D

The mainstream horror stuff is new. Back in the good old days they had very long interviews of Sergio Martino, Bruno Mattei, Ruggero Deodato, Sergio Solima, Castellari... Now they rarely cover anything else than the latest US remake, sequel, pre-sequel, redux   :-[

If you can find it, buy this excellent special edition:

L'AGE D'OR DU CINEMA DE GENRE ITALIEN
(the golden age of Italian genre cinema)
