I finally got to see this last night and I was pleasantly surprised. Mixed reviews seem to be the order of the day, but I really enjoyed it, even the ending... The production and design are top-notch, as you'd expect from the director of the Dr Phibes films, and Jon Finch plays Michael Moorcock's anarchic anti-hero Jerry Cornelius to perfection. It's all very fab and groovy, with a great cast and big, bold colours - it must have looked amazing on the big screen. Checking out IMDb, it looks like Fuest only made one other film after THE FINAL PROGRAMME, the heavily slated THE DEVILS RAIN (1975) before turning his talents to TV. All entries stop in 1987 so I assume he either left the business altogether or passed away. Having enjoyed three of his films now, I'm very tempted to check out his version of WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1970) and the thriller, AND SOON THE DARKNESS (1970). I've read good reviews of both.

Count me in as a fan, in no way as mind bending as the Moorcock novels but good fun.

Love this film. Great with a few 'beers'.
The crazy family home is spectacular and must indeed have looked incredible on the big screen.

I picked up a French DVD of THE FINAL PROGRAMME from a car boot sale last year. Surprised me to find it there, to be honest.

Not seen the film yet. Big fan of AND SOON THE DARKNESS and I've no intention of seeing the remake.

It must be ready for release as it was being promoted in Cannes - I saw photos of massive billboards in a magazine recently.
