Anyone else got this? this is by far, one of my favourite Euro Cult scores. It's brilliant, but then again, so is the film it is taken from. You can order it from Amazon:

I'm a big fan of Osanna, and this their second lp is outstanding. In fact their first and third albums are generally higher regarded than this which is probably true enough, but it's still fantastic.

Originally titled "Preludio, Tema, Variazioni, Canzona" it was'nt called "Milano Calibro 9" until it's vinyl re-release in 1980 when the cover art was changed too.

As far as I can gather, Bacalov wrote most of this, I don't have a cd of it, perhaps the liner notes on it clear this up.

As a side note, it's been speculated that Peter Gabriel got his daft Genesis make-up schtick from Osanna who they toured with in Italy. They look truly hilarious on their lp sleeves.

All this info and more can be found on the very knowledgeable italianprog.com website.

I've got the CD with Osanna on the front.  Did make me wonder when it first dropped through the letterbox.

Cracking soundtrack, though.  Has got to be one of the best euro ones ever.  For my money at least.

I agree, I think it's a great score - really gives the film an epic feel, especially during the astonishing opening.

Yeah, when I first watched it I knew I was in for something special after that opening.

I'd go as far as to say it's one of the best opening to a film I have ever seen and Bacalov and Osana's music is a big part of that.

Best opening scene I have ever seen is probably the one in THE BOSS where Henry Silva blows up these old guys using a grenade launcher- I am sure our friend Lanzetta agrees :P

Fantastic score, especially "Preludio". I was quite surprised to find that this track is also heavily re-used in Di Leo's "Vacanze per un massacro".
