Euro Cult movie locations... Anyone been to any?
« on: 23 Jul 2007 - 22:30 »

I've been to Rome a couple of times and always tried to find movie locations while I was there...  If that makes me a geek then so be it...

The Spanish Steps, featured prominently in Mario Bava's 'The Girl Who Knew Too Much'

Film

As it looks today...

Film

As it looks today, notice the white mark on the wall in my recent photo and how it's there in the screen grab from the film..

I did the Spanish steps, mate. I also stayed close to a piazza that can be seen at the beginning of LIVE LIKE A COP, DIE LIKE A MAN.

I've been to Rome and visited many places used in films: Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Forum and Coloseum, etc. We were staying near the fountain and I always remember the small knife shop just round the corner, the window display had literally hundreds of flick knives in it, which I thought was really cool. My dad had one from an earlier trip there which I used to sneak out of the house and play with, until I dropped it one day in the Water of Leith while fucking about with it.

I've been to Naples too, the road in the car chase of Napoli Violenta that runs along beside the bay is a major thoroughfare and I went along it in a coach and spent an afternoon in it's vicinity.

Don't forget to take some pics!!  :'(

I know fellow forum member Inspector Tanzi has a load of pics from his holiday in Almeria, hopefully he'll be online soon and be able to post the photos.

Jay would probably know Tanzi if he saw him...

Let's hope we can save the posts from the old forum, as Tanzi posted a lot of nice photos from his trip to Almeria.

I was going to bring them over but I thought it would be better if Tanzi did it...

I'd LOVE to see them! I was thinking of proposing the trip as an article to a magazine as a lad's trip to spaghetti western country. Could be fun!

I couldn't go wrong: three-bedroom villa, own pool, flights, aircon, barbeque, outdoor pool table, car hire. Just over £500 each for ten days fun and tequila sipping!

my old man has got this farmhouse thing and a bit of a mountain right in spaghetti western country. I haven't got a passport, seen photo's though, it looks just like the movies, like those pictures Tanzi posted.

my dad bought his place when it was really cheap, it's pretty big, lots of land - maybe we could all go out there. One day. Nice thought.

Excellent! Wonderful stuff. I'll be snapping away like a madman no doubt.

Of course, there's the locations for Exterminators of the Year 3000 (a guilty pleasure of mine)...
