« on: 09 Apr 2010 - 18:28 »

Hello folks.
Something you may be interested in - starting a monthly film screening event in London town called Filmbar70.
Filmbar70 is the brainchild of two cinema and beer enthusiasts who want to share the joy of wrongfully obscure trash/class world cinema with monthly screenings at the brilliant Roxy Bar and Screen in London Bridge.
Kicking off with the mighty 'Milano Calibro 9' on Tuesday, April 13th.
Doors open 7.00PM, 3 quid charge - less than a pint!
Hope to see some of you there.
Cheers, Justin

Welcome to the forum, Justin  :P

I've known justing through a mutual friend for a number of years - he's a top bloke. I'm definitely going to be going along to this. Anyone else fancy meeting up with Aarron and I for a beer first?

I've been thinking of revisiting Rome & Milan recently due to the massive influx of Italian celluloid penetrating my brain of late. It would be good to have a film location type of guide – but I expect it would go something like: prostitute slashed in this doorway, brains blown out here…

Looks like Milan is the place to go to spot the most locations, then.

So Aarron and I went along to the Filmbar70 evening at the Roxy last night and had a great time. The venue is ace – has a really retro feel – the screening area is cordoned off with burgundy drapes and there’s plenty of room to relax in comfort.

The screen is a great size and the AV presentation was first rate. They screened MILANO CALIBRO 9 from the Raro DVD and it looked superb! There was a good turn out too – people were laughing and gasping n the right places during the film and there was an overall friendly atmosphere. I can’t recommend it enough!

They’re screening Brian Trenchard-Smith’s STUNT ROCK next month. I’ll be popping along – so if you’re in London and fancy it, I’ll see you there. You can also join their Facebook group by searching Filmbar70.

I think you would have approved, mate  :P

I still can't get over just how many people were there - there must have been 50 or sixty - the designated seating area (all sofas and booths) was full to capacity.
