It’s official! The 9th Fantastic Films Weekend will take place Friday 4 - Sunday 6 June 2010. Early plans include double-bills of 28 Days Later... and 28 Weeks Later. We are planning a tribute to Michael Reeves (1943-1969), screenings of Psycho  and The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, and some very special guests.

We are delighted to welcome veterans Stanley Long and Michael Armstrong to our fold. Both men have a wealth of experience to share and many stories to impart. FFW patron Jeremy Dyson is at the heart of Fantasma, our new symposium created in partnership with University of Bradford, and joins us to talk about telling horror stories. Fasten your seatbelts: it’s going to be a bumpy few nights…

Feel the fear…

It's a great festival and one I'd love to be able to attend for the duration one year. It's only about 40 minutes drive from where I live too.

One of the best things about it is that they always try and track down 35mm prints where possible, even if it means showing a beat up, cut print from the 70's. I personally prefer that to a pristine uncut print shown via a DVD any day...

The line up every year is, pretty much, always good. We should maybe plan something for next years event?

I'm seriously considering going up for the Friday screenings of SECRET RITES,LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN and WITCHFINDER GENERAL,highly unlikely i'll be able to make it on either the Saturday or Sunday though. The train fare from Kings X is about £60-70 return but with any luck i might be able to get it a bit cheaper.

Let me know if you are going and I'll see if I can get there at some point to meet up.

LIZARD is likely to be the digital print that has been shown recently, not 100% on this but I have a feeling it will be.

Do it. There's plenty of hotels that are nice and do good rates. It's got to be worth coming up for at least two days out of the three, eh?

I didn't get to the show in the end, does anyone know if the 'Mark of the Devil' was a film print or just a DVD. I used to attend every year, but after 2008 when half the screenings seemed to be DVDs, I was rather disappointed - not worth £6 just to watch a commercially available DVD being blown up far beyond its resolution limit.
