Received mine today. Aside from the cover, does anybody know if the 'Special Festival Edition' is any different from the Midnight Marquee version?
What makes you think that Rich?

I reckon there's no difference content wise. Least I hope not as I won't be buying it twice.  Unless there's loads of nice pictures added...  >:(

Just ordered my copy from Darrell this morning.

Be advised that there's only about 10 copies of this special edition left so I'd advise getting in touch sooner, rather than later if you want a copy.

The book is much larger than I thought it would be too, so £14 inc P&P seems a bit of a bargain.

Here's a pic I 'borrowed' from the BHF forums showing Darrell and Stanley Long with the book at the recent Fantastic Films Weekend at Bradford...

There's a great section at the back of the book about censorship and says whether various dvd's around the world are cut prints or not.

Pleased to hear that you're all enjoying the book.

We're working on the official version at the moment, I received the proofs from Midnight Marquee last week and have sent them back a bunch of amendments and revisions - hopefully once they've sorted those out, we'll be in a position to get the American version on sale.

As for differences between the two  - the text will be substantially the same (one or two minor changes and corrections, and judging by the proof copy, MidMar have added an American sheen to it with U.S. spellings, some of the British colloquialisms have been softened or changed, etc., but it's largely the same as in the Festival Edition). The book will be smaller, coming in at about 220 pages, and will be fully illustrated (black & white) with a great selection of movie stills, photos, posters etc.

I've still got about a dozen copies of the Festival Edition available.

Pleased to hear that you're all enjoying the book.

It's on my beside table and I'm still enjoying reading it. Nice to hear that the Midnight Marquee version will have something extra to make it a possible double dip, I'll be on the lookout for it when it goes on sale. More than likely will add it to my Christmas pressie list!

Thanks for dropping by to keep us up to date Darrell!  :'(

Apparently (I haven't even seen a copy myself yet!) the fully illustrated, official version of 'The Shrieking Sixties' is now out in the States. Available from amazon.com - I'm awaiting confirmation from the publishers as to whether it will eventually appear at amazon.co.uk

Was just reading this on the bog, yeah that's how I roll on New Years Eve, and noticed D R Shimon's review of NIGHT, AFTER NIGHT, AFTER NIGHT says that the bad guy parades around in a black leather outfit with Beatles wig. ?? Eh? It's a pale blue trouser suit as far as my copy is concerned.

I used the footage in the video I made for DEMDIKE STARE and he's clearly not wearing a black leather outfit...

http://www.thewire.co.uk/video/p=15054

Is there another version or is D R Shimon mistaken?

EDIT: I'm really drunk so there could be a black leather outfit bit. Can't recall it being during the end bit though.
