INVASION OF THE BLOOD FARMERS

This dreadful, but oddly engaging horror Black comedy film from director Ed Adlum (SHRIEK OF THE MUTILATED) and co-writer Ed Kelleher deals with a cult of modern-day Druids on a farm in upstate New York. In order to keep their catatonic queen alive in her glass coffin, the cultists drain the blood from passersby with the aid of some cheap plastic tubing. The leader of the cult is a flamboyantly effeminate priest whose hilariously silly explanations of his beliefs provide most of the film's minimal entertainment value. Outlandish Paul Craig Jennings as Creaton lights up the insane film in this campy cult favorite. Co-produced by Jack Bravman (SNUFF, ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE)

• audio commentary with Ed Adlum

SILENT NIGHT BLOODY NIGHT (aka DEATH HOUSE)

The secrets of a small New England town are violently exposed on Christmas Eve in this proto-slasher shocker. The owner of the long-abandoned Butler estate is desperate to sell, and dispatches his lawyer from New York to negotiate its purchase by the town council. Meanwhile, an inmate from a nearby insane asylum breaks loose and makes his way to the old mansion to take bloody revenge for a crime kept hidden for 35 years. The maniac makes mysterious phone calls to various prominent citizens, telling them that "Marianne" has returned, and lures each to the Butler house to meet their doom. The mayor's daughter, Diane, receives a visit from a man who claims to be Jeremy Butler, the mansion's owner, in town to investigate his lawyer's disappearance. Together they attempt to unravel the sinister mystery of the Butler house, which turns out to be a harrowing tale of incest, insanity and mass murder. Hollywood star Patrick O'Neal (CASTLE KEEP, KREMLIN LETTER), Cult favorites Mary Woronov (EATING RAOUL), John Carradine (GRAPES OF WRATH), Asrid Heeren (CASTLE KEEP). Written by Jeffrey Konvitz (THE SENTINEL) Directed by Theodore Gershuny

POSSE FROM HEAVEN

Posse From Heaven: A refreshing, exciting look at the celestial forces that influence behavior here on earth.

A bunch of groovy sofa couch potato angels headed by THE PRICE IS RIGHT announcer Rod Roddy watches Tabloid queen/ Argentine firecracker Fanne Foxe strip and dance.
They see a loser cowboy named Appletime (Todd Compton, who directed his scenes!) being discharged from the U.S. Cavalry.
The heavenly forces decide to send him a guardian angel in the person of Gabriel.
Something goes amiss in the transfer, however.
When Gabriel arrives on Earth to complete his mission, he discovers himself to be a horse.

Appletime and Gabriel (now Appletime’s horse) set out to fulfill their destinies.
Firecracker Fanne comes down to earth to try and help Appletime along by singing the gospel of love.
This philosophy backfires as Appletime confronts some train robbers with the six-shooter that he has unloaded.
The train robbers tie him up and escape.

After a series of hilarious escapades in which both Fanne and Gabriel try to influence Appletime’s behavior without too much success, Appletime again confronts the train robbers – this time taking the beautiful young female member of the gang captive.
He is unable to hold the rest of the gang, however, and they ride off, leaving Appletime to cope with the girl.

Two love affairs develop and are culminated: the love affair between Appletime and the outlaw Lola – and the love affair between Gabriel and Lola’s horse.
Fanne does not approve of either.

This mishmash comedy runs like an unfinished movie as Todd “Appletime” Compton takes on the bad guy, James Whitworth (THE HILLS HAVE EYES), in a one-on-one cowboy-style gun battle to rescue Sherry Bain (THE HARD RIDE, WILD RIDERS) in the old west at the Paramount Ranch!

I received the new horror double and SNBN looks pretty good, with some damage but a huge step up in terms of audio / visual detail & clarity.  BLOOD FARMERS I just glanced at, but colors look better than the Retro release.  Will be watching and checking out the director commentary soon, now some SNBN cappage.

DEVIL'S EXPRESS aka GANG WARS

New York Master Martial Artist Luke (Warhawk Tanzania) goes to Hong Kong to earn his next level in the Martial Arts world. He convinces his student Rodan (Wilfredo Roldan) to accompany him. Once they arrive, they come across an ancient burial site and find an amulet that holds a horrific demon creature in its power. Not knowing what the amulet was for, Rodan steals it and takes it back to gang infested New York City, only for the demon to come to New York to find it! The demon travels through the New York city subway tunnels as it preys on it's victims, including Rodan himself! The police think all the killings are a result of gang wars, but Luke soon finds out the terrifying truth and seeks out to avenge the death of his student! Luke must confront the horrifying demon face to face and do battle in the underground subways, where the only train that runs that late is the Devil’s Express! This gritty action, grindhouse, martial-arts, horror classic has finally arrived at the Code Red station! When the film THE WARRIORS was released theatrically, the distributor of DEVIL’S EXPRESS re-titled it as GANG WARS to make it look like a gang fight movie. It took CODE RED DVD many, many years to locate the camera Negatives and the film is now restored in HiDef! Also starring Brother Theodore and David Durston (I DRINK YOUR BLOOD). Directed by Barry Rosen (YUM YUM GIRLS)

Rated R.

Tarzana (caps by John Bernard / Latarnia)

"The titles was supposed to be a Maria Host title, and FEMALE BUNCH was another sad Mardi Rustam bad material thing. so minus Maria and throw in FEMALE BUNCH. Like I said in the past, find me a 35mm print and I will re-release it."

Piranha,Piranha and Tarzana look a lot better than The Female Bunch judging from caps.

So keep in mind The Female Bunch is more of an extra on this one.  :D

Piranha,Piranha and Tarzana are actually more of interest to me personally.

Looks like Code Red have shut down for the time being because Alamo Drafthouse sent him a cease and desist notice regarding THE VISITOR. Apparently the director offered Bill $3,000 to buy him out of their agreement which he has 3 years left on. He turned it down because he paid much more than that for the rights in the first place so Alamo sent him the legal stuff to stop him releasing the film.

From the Code Red FB page...

Quote
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE send me a CEASE AND DESIST for THE VISITOR! I GOT THREE MORE YEARS AND RICH PRICKS IS COMING AFTER CODE RED. I have to stop business for awhile. MGM do own tv & theatrical. Love to see them send one to them. I paid 10 grand more than they did for this movie. sorry, but code red release are frozen for awhile.

What I don't get is how do Alamo have any legal right to send a cease and desist if Bill still has the rights to the film?

Bigger pockets. Better lawyers. I think Bill is nuts but this is bullshit. If it got to court, and he has a signed contract, then he shouldn't need to spend a dime and win the case. But this is the country where OJ Simpson got off.....

I'd be fucking livid if this were me, knowing Bill only from his online persona I don't blame him locking everything down. If it were me I'd take a day or two to calm down then press up as many copies of THE VISITOR as possible and sell them everywhere at the lowest price where I'd make a little bit of profit to smother the market. Do Alamo think they are sitting on a goldmine with this title?

When I interviewed Bill, he told me that he paid $25,000 for the rights to VISITOR. While I think that might heave been for a package deal which included the rights to other titles, $3,000 is not much compensation.

Drafthouse have the hipster crowd that will no doubt buy any title given there seal of approval. Would Bill have shifted as many titles of MIAMI CONNECTION as Drafthouse did if he had the rights? I doubt it.

I find Bill's approach to business a little odd, okay, very odd, but the direct sales model appears to be working for him. I was going to buy MACE only to find that it's out of stock. So he is evidently shifting some of his niche titles.

All very odd but do bear in mind that it's an Italian licensor and there's a history of problems with them selling film rights to multiple parties, so this really doesn't come as a shock to me.
