Could there be different rights for DVD and Blu Ray?

Could there be different rights for DVD and Blu Ray?

Could be, Marc is the best person to comment on this but I always assumed the home video rights applied to all formats rather than being just for individual ones. Would seem strange to just be given the rights to DVD?

http://codereddvd.bigcartel.com/products
First 2 blu's are available internationally now.
Make certain you read the new policy regarding overseas shipping before you order.
Also I highly recommend to include a note with your paypal payment saying "please open and secure discs".

According to Bill he ordered region free bd's,we'll have to wait for confirmation to be 100% certain though.  :D

Thanks Bruno! ordered JUST BEFORE DAWN on Blu, MACE and RETRIBUTION. Wanted DEVIL'S EXPRESS and SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, but they are sold out. Will have to order those from Diabolik instead.

Theres no way those two are sold out. Its just that Code Red are a VERY STRANGE AND WEIRD company. He keeps putting titles in and out of stock, in my opinion, to raise demand and peak interest so he can sell more fast. Very dubious and dishonest way of selling if you ask me.

And its highly annoying when you go elsewhere and potentially pay more for a title that suddenly he relists as being available.

Has anyone requested the use of one of the "cardboard mailers" he mentions on the website?

How is that packaging, and how does that work (in terms of added costs, and in terms of checkout process)?

And that "please open and secure discs" option is a load of crap.
If I wanted to purchase second hand, non-sealed copies, I wouldn't pay what he is asking.

It's not dubious at all,Bill has been away a lot lately and can't take huge amounts of dvd's with him on the road.

A few people complained about damaged/crushed cases so maybe that's why he considered the cardboard mailers.
Getting a crushed case can always happen,I got several over the years (but not from CR).
Reading the message again,I think they're included in the shipping price?

I you don't put "please open and secure" and get a floater, you won't get a replacement.
Floaters are something that can happen so keep that in mind.

I don't mind opened discs as I intend to open and watch them anyway.  :D

I would understand if this was just lately, but it's been like this since the start.
This is clearly an attempt to maximize shipping charges. When a couple of new titles show up, the recently released go conveniently out-of-stock at the same time.

I wanted to order a couple of items a while back, and looked at the store every day. They were never in stock at the same time, when one was "in stock", the other wasn't.

You call that return policy normal, or reasonable?
Frankly, the Code Red store is unlike anything I ever saw online, including other labels.
He shouldn't treat everyone like a scammer who is trying to get to him. He needs his customers, yet he treats them like he is doing us a favour.

Do you know how much a DVD/BD copy costs, in terms of manufacturing costs? Do you know how much he would lose if he had to replace a copy?
To replace a DVD, he would lose less than $1 (before shipping).

Oh, and in my last order from them I did get a couple of crushed DVD cases. Funnily enough, it wasn't because of damage during shipping (it was a large order, shipped in a box), since the broken pieces of the case were missing...

I want those BD, especially Voices from Beyond, but the idea of having to deal with this crap sure makes me think twice.

No offence to you, bdc. I know you like the label and all.
And do understand, I'm not commenting on their releases, but purely on all this crap and "drama" regarding his store.

Diabolikdvd are hoping to have the bd's in stock. And their postage charges are cheaper.
