Is this any good? I wonder whether I should buy.
It was released by Koch years ago and is still available, but now I've just found this dead cheap Dutch version:

I can't vouch for that particular release, I have the US boxset, but it's a fantastic series. Well worth a purchase.

I've got the UK box set and it's highly recommended.

Hammer House of Horror: The Complete Collection - Amazon.co.uk

Less than £11 on Amazon too.  :'(

Synapse is reissuing it in the US as well.  I'm not sure how much better it will look over the old US set since the TV production only exists on video (although it was shot entirely on film unlike some of the other filmed-exterior/video-interior productions of the time) but Synapse always does a good job (they will be using IVC's proprietary technology which reportedly results in better conversions) and I believe they are preparing exclusive extras.

I was glad to see the old DVD set.  When the episodes played on TV in the US and came out on tape through Elvira's Thriller Video (with very memorable big box covers), they dropped MARK OF SATAN and the episodes were edited for violence and nudity as well as some other little bits for more commercial spots.

got myself the cheap UK version. since some reviews mention a booklet and extensive liner notes, this seems to be a stripped down cheapo version since it doesn't include either. its just two amarays in a slipcase. Image quality is very good.

though I have to say that the first episode, "The House That Bled To Death" rather bored me to death!.... :o

hope the series doesn't continue as tired as this .....

That’s the only one I’ve seen, recently, anyway. I caught it on TV a few years ago and thought it was really creepy.

Yep, I like this one too!

The Silent Scream and The Two Faces of Evil are pretty good.

I'm currently working my way through this, watching an episode every coupla days or so, in disc order....
i think charlie boy is my next one.. of the one's i've seen so far, besides the classic house that bled to death, its hard to pick a favorite as they are all good, but i really enjoyed The mark of satan, I'd also agree with jonny about the two he mentioned, especially silent scream  :-\

is this a threat?
I felt it was going on and on and on forever, with every single plot twist as predictable, the whole thing seemed to be running entierely by default.
hope the rest gets better than this!

Not the best episode but I like the first half of TWO FACES OF EVIL.
