One Summer (Gordon Flemyng, 1983)
« on: 24 Jun 2010 - 22:14 »

Starring David Morrisey, Spencer Leigh and James Hazeldine.

Written by Willy Russell

Just finished watching this 250 minute drama spread out over five episodes.

Billy and Icky are two scouse teenagers whose lives are going nowhere, stuck in Liverpool, getting in all kinds of trouble they decide to run away to Wales.

It all goes well at first until....

I was too young to remember this was shown on Channel 4 (I was 10 when it was on) in 1983, I'd never heard of it but someone reccomended it to me, I wasn't so sure but I saw the first 10 minutes on youtube and thought it looked like it was worth a watch so I ordered it.

Really good performances all round, glad I saw it and some of it will stay in my head for some time.

Well worth a watch.

i vaguely remember this, i just had a look at some u-tube clips to check i'm thinking of the same thing, yup, i remember it being pretty good but not much else about it.
nice to see those one off series's and 3 part drama's that were popular in the early 80's cropping back up (i remember 3 or 4 part police drama called operation-julie from the early 80's that was bloody good)
one summers, definately something i'll be re-visiting, not seen it since i was 14/15

I remember this one and rewatched it recently. Nice harmonica score. Although set in North Wales, I think it was filmed in the Lake District.
