Watched this last night.  Nice over-the-top slasher film with Giallo elements.  Love the opening scene, though I don't think there were Nudie jigsaw puzzles back in the 40s.  :-*

And certainly not ones featuring women with 80s perms! Haha!  ;D

I didn't think it was but someone earlier in the thread said it was. No point rebuying then for a film as dull as this.

Me either, a real sleep inducer. I only bought the UK disc cause it was a quid! All Simons' films suck.

This truly is one of those films that plays better when you're in a group and all somewhat inebriated.  Its just boring and stupid when you're sober.

I disagree, at least about the boring part. This film is the epitome of good eurotrash imo. There might not be even a whiff of well-plotted, nicely shot class to it and it`s stupid in spades but PIECES never fails to entertain me. I`m sure it would make for a good party film, no doubt about that, but I actually watched the new Grindhouse disc stone cold sober and had a blast. Probably the 6th or 7th viewing overall for me. It was a treat to see a nice presentation after that eyesore of a dvd from Diamond I`d been making do with.

Anyone get the feeling that Ian Sera's character isn't so much an audience surrogate as a surrogate for the writers/director as he's a geeky student who gets all the babes, knows karate, gets called on to protect Lynda Day George (she's the cop, shouldn't it be the other way around), and even gets called in to help go through police records at the end?

Totally agree with Andrew, this isn't boring, not at all. Fast-moving, cheesy, over the top, gory fun. Almost resembles a Bruno Mattei film. I already have it on DVD but will be buying the Grindhouse release as I can't resist a definitive version of PIECES.

This scene alone is worth the double-dip as far as I am concerned.

This film makes Mattei's work look like Leone's :-\
