anyone have a decent copy of these 80's Fabrizio De Angelis/Mark Gregory action films?  I saw the first one years ago on VHS, but never the sequels, and would like to have a triple feature!
DVDr is cool.  let me know!

thanks :-X

I guess I'll try to track down the Japanese VHS...  Hopefully these (at least the first one) get an English dvd release someday.

I have the UK originals of Thunder 1 and 2, if interested. I may have the third.

I finally got copies of all 3 THUNDER films from the Japanese VHS tapes, and the first entry is FULLSCREEN!  Does anybody know if the first THUNDER was ever released on home video in its OAR?  I have the Jap. and U.S. version and both are fullscreen.  Thanks!

I reckon fullscreen is ok for these, I doubt they were shot in scope.

During the opening credits of the first THUNDER everything is squeezed to fit the titles/credits and afterwards the shots are all way too tight looking.  It's most likely 1.85:1 if not scope.  I know for sure that Thunder 2 was shot in scope - the Japanese VHS is in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio so I'm assuming they all may have been.

I currently have no way to take screenshots via computer, so here are some pics direct from my TV from the THUNDER Japanese VHS.  These first 3 are from the opening credits sequence that clearly show that the film is shot in scope 2.35:1.  I have stretched the fullscreen image to fit the 1.78:1 monitor but everything is still 'squished' looking.  It's amazing that they would squish a scope image into fullscreen!

After this, the film switches to pan and scan and is clearly cropped...

Here's a shot from the THUNDER 2 Japanese VHS which is cropped somewhere in between 1.85:1 and 2.35:1

Danish releases:

Thunder Warrior (for some reason, this one looks much better when hitting the 16:9-button)

Thunder 2 (lbx, can't remember the ratio... will check tomorrow)
