Superb BBC "factional drama" from the late 1970s consisting of four interleaving episodes each covering a different point of view (the Metropolitan Police, the criminal, the solicitor and the prison system). Dirty, drab looking London of the 70s, plenty of brown coloured motors, brown clothing, large-patterned brown wallpaper, plenty of familiar faces, and much classic cockney rhyming slang dialogue. More talky and less action based than 'The Sweeney', 'Fox', and 'Out' but this doesn't detract from an exceedingly well made drama series. Doesn't pull any punches and caused a massive storm within the political establishment at the time of its broadcast by the BBC. At the time, Radio Times produced a glossary of rhyming slang (this is contained as an extra on the DVD) to help viewers and the uninitiated cope with the dailogue. One to watch with the subtitles on. You can pick this up from Amazon for under a fiver. Highly recommended.
