I caught up to this movie last night. There doesn't seem to be much love for it judging by the preceeding messages on this thread and I can see why. I'm generally pretty forgiving of anything remotely giallo-like, but this movie is just really not very good.
The first problem may have been that I watched the English dub and it's one of those jobs that's chock full of goofy sounding voices. I detected that Keenan Wynn supplied his own voice, but most of the rest sounded pretty silly. Having Victor Buono's signature baritone replaced with a high-pitched substitute was especially jarring. Possibly I should re-watch with the Italian dub, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
The story itself is somewhat intriguing as Antonio Sabato's reporter character is racing against the clock to free an innocent man framed in the killing of an important political figure, and attempts to throw in something of a supernatural angle to add to the mystery. I really enjoyed the location shooting and the glimpses of Albuquerque circa the early 70s. The execution falls flat on its face though unfortunately. Especially ridiculous is the final hour of film time as Sabato and Buono race against the clock to beat the midnight execution (after being given an unexpected extra hour due to daylight savings time[!?!?!]). A clock ticks down the time in five minute increments while our intrepid heroes unbelievably scurry back and forth across the city. The final revelation of the "man with icy eyes" is also a major letdown.
On the plus side, there is a jumping jazzy score from Peppino De Luca and Barbara Bouchet gets her tits out. Other than that though I find very little to recommend about this title.
