I bet Castellari would have beaten them both...at the same time!  :-\

Wonderful movie, the best Squitieri to me.
Sadly, the Raisat copy is cut in -at least- a couple of scenes... I also have a copy of some vhs-source, pan&scan but longer than raisat

I just watched a nice dual audio (Italian and English) fandub of this the other day. I'm not sure what the source was, but there were the letters CVH in the corner of the screen, and at one point some warning in Italian ran along the bottom of the picture...

I loved this film when I first saw it, but this time I wasn't so sure. Joe was great, and there were some fantastic performances, but it didn't seem to hang together the way it should have. It felt very disjointed, and the last 20 minutes really dragged. Never mind. I picked up a lovely Belgian poster the other day for my girlfriend. Joe features very prominently, so I'm in her good books. I'd love an Italian one though...

Noticed this over at the Blu-Ray.com forum - anyone else heard about this being released by Arrow?

Yeah, it's been mentioned on Facebook too. Hopefully it's true, seems an odd one for Arrow to release but any euro crime on blu is welcomed by me and hopefully paves the way for some of the more well known stuff to get released in the future.

This was officially announced today and is out on 15th May

http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=the%20clim&product_id=937

Format: Blu-ray + DVD
Starring: Joe Dallesandro, Stefania Casini, Benito Artesi
Directed by: Pasquale Squitieri

Synopsis:
After shooting cult favourites Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula in Europe, Joe Dallesandro spent much of the seventies making movies on the continent. In France he worked with auteurs like Louis Malle and Walerian Borowczyk, and in Italy he starred in all manner of genre fare from poliziotteschi (Savage Three, Season for Assassins) to nunsploitation (Killer Nun).

The Climber follows in the tradition of gangster classics such as The Public Enemy and Scarface as it charts the rise and inevitable fall of small-time smuggler Aldo (Dallesandro). Beaten and abandoned by the local gang boss after he tries to skim off some profits for himself, Aldo forms his own group of misfits in order to exact revenge…

Written and directed by Pasquale Squitieri (Gang War in Naples, I Am the Law), The Climber is a prime example of Italian crime cinema – a high-octane action-thriller full of brawls, fistfights, shootouts and explosions!
